I was talking a while ago with one of the animators who made the 3D intro to the game, the ride video contained 25fps high quality renders of segments of the intro but the only video foles to ever surface online have either been missing parts or are really low quality. I really wish there was a way to get all of those files. When you say archived, what do you mean? Does Lego themselves have the only remaining masters of the files? I have copies of the low res ones but they are way too low quality to get any detail out of the models. I was originally looking for HD version of these videos because I spent many months building the boss cars as they are seen in the opening animation. In one particular scene I was trying to see how the Beta version of Baron Von Barrons car was built as the only video I have to go by is the one that came with the PC game, but again this is still too low quality to see the pieces properly. When I contacted one of the original animators he said there were no animation files left of the sequence and if there still was it could have been simply rerendered in higher quality in the same program they made the original one with, which was Lightwave.2 points -

While my contact is unfortunately unable to provide the original ride files (again, due to them being archived and LEGO's property), I have managed to secure James Dobbs, one of the major figures behind the ride, for some questions! So if there's anything you've ever wanted to ask about it, sound off ASAP!2 points -

Explorer (LEGO Digital Designer file): https://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r192/ [NEWS]: (2021-10-21): With a delay of about three weeks I noticed that this thread is 10 years old XD. Let's see, if I can come up with something insightful on the spot to distract from my "perfect" timing^^: I still think that this is a cool project and I would probably do it again . With today's software and hardware that's easier to do than 10 years ago and makes you appreciate the effort that the people at DDI & LEGO put into designing the ship over 20 years ago. In regards to what I expected from making this thread/model and what actually happened the results are a bit all over the place: on one side I hoped that it would get featured on blogs and websites besides RRU and maybe even getting the attention from the LEGO Company itself, but that didn't really work out (I only remember two times, where the model was featured in a blog or video). Maybe I am too introverted and not annoying enough on social media to make the existence of this ship known to everyone XD. On the other side this thread has gotten a ton of views and replies over the last decade and people started to integrate the ship model into a game (like Manic Miners from baraklava) or game engine or make MOCs based on the digital models. Also a big thanks to Cyrem and Cirevam, because otherwise RRU wouldn't exist as a central hub for Rock Raiders related content. It's already been brought up in the City Undercover thread, but there are official pics of the '17 City police lineup out and about now. Nothing big aside from Chase McCain going on here. I am amused that there's an actual jail cell with bars and everything on the mobile command center truck. The truck that transports cars is cool and the first time we've seen that in minifig scale in years, but its weird that the truck belongs to the police. jokes about lego city police state go here1 point -

Time-lapse time! Phase 1: 00:00 - Setting up the scene Phase 2: 09:24 - Porting over additonal props Phase 3: 21:46 - Landscape touchups and animating Phase 4: 48:21 - Post-render editing and uploading 8 hours of work speed up at x8 speed, and even then some cuts were made to the long parts like model porting and the SFM rendering bits. As you can tell from the dates at the bottom right, this was all done within the span of just a few days. I went pretty hardcore at it too. There was little time where I wasn't working on this.1 point -

Monster truck wheels (replaces the wagon wheels)
RacerRabbit reacted to TheStranger for a topic
I made this tiny mod that replaces the Wagon wheels with re-textured wheels from Baron von Barron's car, making it look a bit like a monster truck. I mostly just copied the data straight from BVB's car files in piecedb into the ones from the wagon (DA). I hope I didn't forget to include any file in the mod so if you try it and it doesn't work, please let me know. Screenshots: Download link: monster wheels.rar Edit: I just realized the thing in the back of Joan of Cart's car is a stake because Joan of Arc was burned at a stake.1 point -
