POLYGON ATTACK: The LEGO Animation Thread

So it seems like this is quite literally handing the same materials and objective to two different teams and seeing how different they come out. That's... really strange. I've voiced my criticisms of the show before, but as far as current Lego stuff goes it's probably the best. Certainly the most fun to watch, especially if you just turn your brain off and don't think about it. Though I think that's true of later seasons (maybe 4 onward) more than the earlier ones, which I think were a lot less solid on their feet.

POLYGON ATTACK: The LEGO Animation Thread

So we've got a cool topic for retro LEGO media in general, but sometimes I've found myself wanting to post about more recent stuff and not really found a good venue for it. So I figured, why not give a thread like this a try? I know that there are at least a couple of other people around that brave even the roughest of the Lego shows and series when they come out, and maybe you all would like a place to talk about them some too. Make what you want of the thread: from the Animagica Lego Movie to the Animal Logic Lego Movie, official stuff, unofficial stuff, stopmotions, CGI. Whatever tickles your fancy! ...but now for the real reason I wanted to make this thread: this happened and it's so bizarre and I don't know where else to put it: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CxuR7eiWIAA4fjD.jpg:large They paid two different crews to animate the same special. "as an experiment." what kind of budget is ninjago running on? Is this going to be CGI too? Is it going to match the normal one shot for shot (aside from the different starting scene)? How do they benefit from doing this in the first place? this feels like the sort of thing that you read about on the lost media wiki or something and there's an intense debate over whether or not it exists because the idea is so absurd. but it's real. and soon enough, I guess we'll see it.

    Base Terranova

I first started designing Base Terranova over 2 years ago, but then I kinda abandoned the project as it wasn't turning out how I wanted it to be. After that, a few months ago I picked it up again and did a complete overhaul on the original design. Now, I am proud to finally present what is probably my biggest LEGO project to date: "Base Terranova - A RR HQ" Warning! Lots of pictures in the spoilers! Overview: Details of the ground floor: Details of the first floor: Details of the second floor: Details of the Top Floor: I hope you guys enjoyed looking through my newest RR model! Comments and feedback are welcomed to help improve on its design! ~A creation by RRChief~

Creator: Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets:Can it works?

POST CLOSED, GUYS. I've found the solution yesterday. I used ''Large Address Aware for increase the RAM the game use. As far as I know, it is mainly focused on 32-bit games and software that doesn't use all of your ram, like in my case. Here you have the download link: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/ Thanks for all your help and sorry if this post was strange but it was my very first one.

    LEGO Island REDUX

Update! Almost 2 months since my last post and celebrating 80 downloads of v0.9.3! I didn't realize that many people were interested! v0.9.4 will be out soon! (hopefully within a week or so after Thanksgiving) Some features I've already finished implementing: New sky/lighting system (still testing out dynamic sky) Walking underwater and underwater effects (thanks @Wogniffor the model!) Various bug fixes (including framerate optimizations) Added credits that play before the game quits (can be exited by pressing any key/button) I also wanted to get feedback for a possible intro. Would anyone be up for the challenge of possibly recreating the original "intro" that plays when you start the game? (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRRU3x3-eLc) Or should a new intro be created when the game is finished (or at least has more features than currently available)? Obviously a recreation of the original intro would take a long time to accomplish, and I wouldn't expect to utilize it until later in development when more features are implemented. I'm somewhat-alright at animating inside of Unity, and if it comes down to it I can pull off something somewhat-decent, but have almost no other experience with 3D modeling or animating with other programs (blender, maya, 3ds, etc). Thoughts?

LEGO Alpha Team HD Texture Overhaul

I really appreciate the in-depth response, especially your tips on scaling tileable textures, I'll take it all onboard. Unfortunately as I've been extremely busy lately I didn't have a lot of time to spend refining textures so they were just rammed through in batch, with certain textures like characters getting more attention. I think I'll spend a while recreating textures as SVGs, and for the laser textures I'll just keep the original given how small the texture appears. Then I can choose appropriate resolutions for each. Edit: Okay I've started making SVG versions of each texture, drawing them myself. A few things will just use the upscaled versions like the smoke textures (ABOMC), and some I won't touch to prevent issues. Textures so far are 4x the size rather than 8x. Also, new boulder texture yay. Edit 2: Here are a few samples of the new textures I'm doing. If you really examine them (on a well-calibrated monitor) you'll see slight colour differences, as I don't have the time to perfectly replicate every gradient. This is a frickin' 16-year-old game that I'm making textures for here, I'm not going for 1:1. Simple arrow texture, notice the new one is cleaner than the upscaled one. Asteroid texture, this time I first drew the SVG and then applied a couple of realistic (seamless) textures to it. Barrel texture, the colour differences are more noticeable here. Again I can't be bothered to make it exact but I may revisit textures once the whole thing is done. Belt cog texture, the original and upscaled were both a little blurry so this one is nice and smooth.

The Ghost of a Bionicle that Might have Been

TTV just posted an interview with Nathan Furst, the composer of the original film trilogy. It's all cool stuff, but the most interesting stuff for me was towards the end, where Furst recalls some intimations of future film ideas, from before they pulled the cord on the series. I suspect that Bob Thompson leaving Bionicle was contingent on the cancellation of the movies - Thompson's other work is mostly in animation and I guess if Bionicle wasn't going to be communicated primarily through animation anymore there wasn't much treason for him to stick around. If such a grand supposition might turn out to be true, the early concepts Furst talked about may indicate the direction Bionicle could have followed if Thompson hadn't left. He mentions two movies specifically: - Makuta origin movie - Movie succeeding Mask of Light, with Takanuva leading the Toa In the midst of it all, there is some suggestion that the overall grand concept was to jump liberally from point to point on the Bionicle timeline with each film, rather than jumping back to a linear chronology after all the Metru Nui business. The idea of a Makuta origin film is especially interesting imo, especially since it would seem to address the hanging bit in LoMN where Lhikan mentions Makuta was "sworn to protect the Matoran." The Bionicle canon does kind of address this, but not really in a way that ever seemed to satisfy the implication of what Lhikan was saying. That this movie was on the table indicates that there was a bigger idea in mind when that line was written. Takanuva as a fixture of the ignition trilogy would've been interesting, though really if things had gone that way it's quite probable that the entire trilogy would have been rendered unrecognizable to us (for the better, I'd like to think). Furst also mentions catching a sense of a conflict of interest within lego about which way Bionicle should go: more to the techno/robotic/scifi or more to the tribal/mythological, at least so far as the music went. I wonder if that argument extended to other aspects of the line. If it did, I guess we know who won. So yeah. Just putting thoughts down. Cool bionicle stuff
