Hi there, I said I would analyze the (available) code to Lego Rock Raiders and see what I can do with it and today I have come to a verdict. I will be able to reconstruct the game engine with the data I have available and the insights created by just looking at the overall configuration of RR and the game mechanics. It won't be easy nor will it be a swift task but it can be done and it will be done. One of my work projects has been postponed til 2017 and the other one is almost done so I feel like I can start on Rock Raiders Reloaded come next week and below is what I will start working on and what I will be planning to do for now with the project. When I start I will be working on: - The base engine (camera controls, HUD, resource control) - Starter elements (Tool Station, Rock Raider, Solid Rock, Dirt, Drills and Shovels) - The start of the Rock Raider AI system (I noticed how bare bone it actually is in the original game and will improve quite a bit) - Basic map design. - Keeping everybody up-to-date with what is going on. What I am planning to do with the project itself: - Recreate the Rock Raiders experience the best I can. - Improve AI for everything. - Make modding a lot easier on the new platform. - Fix a few things that were broken/glitched in the base game (Ore Refinery using more ore than it needs because of zealous Rock Raiders; Trucks dumping more resources than a site needs;) - Redo the way that drilling and using lasers on walls works by giving the walls HP instead of the system that RR used. - Change the Laser Towers into base defense structures which engage enemies in their range when a red alert is active and maybe nerf their EC usage or just remove that altogether. - Create a way of patching that makes sure you don't have to download the whole project every time there's an update. What I am planning for when the project is stable and has what it needs: - Keep improving the project. - Create a multiplayer mode (co-op for now, PvP in whatever form will require some more thought beforehand). - Work on a more complex sequel to Rock Raiders with more resources, buildings, vehicles and a ton more. Let me know what you guys think so far and I'm curious for your opinions and ideas.

I love the Rock Raiders intro, and basically just wanted to try marrying the extra footage of the extended version with the full soundtrack and voices of the release version. Obviously the result isn't perfect, but it isn't quite as jarring as I feared it might be. It's those scenes with the computer screens that they only cut seconds from that get hard to align the sound right with. Also that whole extra scene at the end with Docs and Jet feels unusually quiet.

It actually has no upgrades implemented in the final game, so maybe it was planned but they realized it couldn't be done, or it was pointless and they forgot to update the manual. A bigger cargo hold means nothing when it can only hold as much ore as the pilot can carry. It would be different if we could trawl for ore and crystals at the bottom of lakes. Nah, no drills, you need LASERS:

Hi there people of RRU, after years of lurking about only looking for fixes and tutorials on how to get old Lego games running I have decided to join RRU which is mostly because I wanted to get involved in the Lego Island Redux thread of @bphillips09. I'm 22, from the Netherlands and my friends call me Duke or Darkian. Lego and its games have been quite a part of my life and gave me the freedom for creativity which made me the guy I am today. I program a lot, I write a lot, I draw a lot and I design a lot with a smile on my face (mostly) and spend much of my time on creative hobbies and projects. Be sure to poke me if you need help with programming (I'm not a guru but I can help) or just want to have a good chat ^_^

Hey all, I want more players on my space station server.Right now, there are about seven active players. I will repeat, I want more.(I'm going to clarify (For the purpose of giving me reason to ban noobs without a second glance) by sayin I don't want trolls and noobs (noobs meaning those random people that log into the server and go "HEY GUISE IZ PLAYING CAN I HAVES DIS AN DAT AND DO DAT? OH AND THIS AND DAT!!!!!!!!1111one" So pretty much none of the noobs on roblox and other famous examples of noobs.), I want real players.) (Note: don't confuse noob with newb. Newb = newbie = newcomer. Newcomers are welcomed.) Okay, enough of that blarg ^ What this game is: http://www.byond.com.../SpaceStation13 What do you need to play it? 1. Create an account (optional). 2. Download byond. 3. Start byond. 4. Log in (if you created an account) 5. Hit control + o and then enter the server's IP address. (IP address in this specific case includes the port, of course. I put this note here for those who lack common sense or are new to networking.) 6. Start playing. If you need help, there are several resources. This server software is modified by me and a few fellow gamers. Some things are subject to be different than what the wikis say. The server software is a fork of the goon station software (wiki: http://tgstation13.s...x.php/Main_Page ). The wiki in the parentheses should suffice for your basic needs. Use adminhelp if you need help. If no admins are online, well...Take a second good look at the wiki. Post about it. Ask for help in OOC as a last resort, and only if asking such a question doesn't spoil the fun (such as asking "how ninja does this". That gives away the fact that there's a ninja on board, and at the same time, is IC in OOC.) Rules: 1. Use common sense. 2. Roleplay correctly. That means no griefing. The traitor is not griefing, for they are the traitor. It's their JOB to beat you to death with a toolbox, and flood the station with plasma. 3. No IC in OOC. IC stands for "In Character", and OOC stands for "Out of Character". So, no talking about anything going on in-game. 4. Don't be a sore loser. Expect to die often, get your workspace blown up, and stuff like that. It's a part of space station 13. 5. Lastly, Have fun. A grouchy gamer is a bad gamer. Don't take this out of context and use it as an excuse to break any of the other rules. That'll get you banned or something. Breaking these rules can get you banned. Asking to be an admin or moderator or something means you won't be an admin or a moderator or something. Don't ask "CAN I BE THIS OR THAT". You are what you are. Now don't get me wrong; suggestions are welcome, but do that in this topic, or admin pm, and with reasonable limit. Spamming "I WANNA BE XENO" won't get you anywhere good. Don't be surprised if you get banned for being annoying or something else like that. I'm not posting about this server to get noobs. I'm posting about this server to get players and have fun.
