Explorer (LEGO Digital Designer file): https://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r192/ [NEWS]: (2021-10-21): With a delay of about three weeks I noticed that this thread is 10 years old XD. Let's see, if I can come up with something insightful on the spot to distract from my "perfect" timing^^: I still think that this is a cool project and I would probably do it again . With today's software and hardware that's easier to do than 10 years ago and makes you appreciate the effort that the people at DDI & LEGO put into designing the ship over 20 years ago. In regards to what I expected from making this thread/model and what actually happened the results are a bit all over the place: on one side I hoped that it would get featured on blogs and websites besides RRU and maybe even getting the attention from the LEGO Company itself, but that didn't really work out (I only remember two times, where the model was featured in a blog or video). Maybe I am too introverted and not annoying enough on social media to make the existence of this ship known to everyone XD. On the other side this thread has gotten a ton of views and replies over the last decade and people started to integrate the ship model into a game (like Manic Miners from baraklava) or game engine or make MOCs based on the digital models. Also a big thanks to Cyrem and Cirevam, because otherwise RRU wouldn't exist as a central hub for Rock Raiders related content. Widescreen Hack + High Resolution
skyboxeye reacted to Jeff for a topic
I struck gold in the youtube comments section. For years I've been looking for a "Beginner's Guide to Widescreen Hacking" and I finally found it. Youtube user AuToMaNiAk005 wrote a very nice explanation on how he hacks games. You should read the whole thing, paste it into a text file and keep it forever. I've tried hacking a few games with this information, but the only success I've had so far was with Lego Island 2. Like most widescreen hacks, it's not perfect. Some objects will disappear on the edges and the HUD is stretched. And sometimes you'll find weird stuff, like a Brickster-Bot that has been creeping in the main menu the entire time. This also solves another problem I've had: Every time I start the game it runs at 640 x 480. The game seems to always start with the lowest supported resolution. But if you replace every possible resolution with just the one you want, it will start up with that one instead. If anyone is interested, here are the offsets that I found: Both English Versions: - 640 at 0x529D, 480 at 0x52A4 - 800 at 0x52B2, 600 at 0x52B9 - 1024 at 0x52C7, 768 at 0x52CE - 1280 at 0x52DC, 1024 at 0x52E3 - FOV at 0xA495 Note that matching width and height values are 7 bytes apart. Two pairs of resolutions are 21 bytes apart (the difference between 640 location and the 800 location) Spanish Version: - 640 at 0x52FD, 480 at 0x5304 - (I didn't write down the rest. See the note above.) - FOV at 0xA765 I've updated the LI2 Mod Manager tool with a built-in custom resolution setting. (And built-in load time fix, and no intro videos hack.) So far it works with both English versions and a Spanish version. If it does not work for you, send me a message and I'll look into it. I want to make it compatible with every version.1 point -

Whilst looking about the internet for things, I came across this rather daft-looking mod for Sonic Generations that got the Sonic character models from LEGO Dimensions and slapped 'em in Generations. So I downloaded it, booted up the game and my sides were immediately sent into literal orbit. (got a lotta screenshots to post, so I'mma put 'em all in spoiler tags for your viewing pleasure) lego sonic as you truly imagined it1 point -
Old Time Cruisers Models
Lair reacted to lol username for a topic
Built these sometime in 2010, maybe early 2011 at latest... I wanna say early-mid 2010 though. Holy s*** these are around seven years old, kids born when I was working on the game project I intended them for would be old enough to play it now. LXFs are on an old laptop I don't have a way of booting at the moment, but I found screenshots I'd sent to people via Skype back then. They were sent as I was working on them so there's some alternate versions of stuff here and there. Main ideas were to keep the vehicles recognizable as the ones from the sets, but incorporate modular time machine devices, and give them more of my own style. Being LDD, things like the decals on the hypno discs are missing. There's a lot I'd do differently now but some of the ideas for the train/truck have stuck around, albeit mutated. Canceled Mega Bloks Halo Game
emily reacted to lol username for a topic
I tried booting up Hype again and I got a few game freezes at a few specific points just past where my save is at in the story, which is odd as I didn't have such problems anywhere else in the game (even in earlier versions of this area) and the save file has like 10.5 hours of gameplay (which doesn't even count all the gameplay between save points and deaths). I'd kinda lost track of where I was in the story too, maybe I'll get the PS2 version sometime and start fresh... I could probably keep trying on PC until I get past this segment without any freezing, but meh. The joys of old PC games, eh? Edit - got through it! Of course the one time I took extra precautions to save throughout the area I didn't encounter any freezes, lol. Edit again - Beat the game! It... uh. It was fun though.1 point -

LEGO Worlds News And Discussion

Worlds has its own microsite now. Nothing really new on it as far as I can tell, but it's unusual for Lego games to get their own dedicated sites. That Worlds gets one says something about how seriously Lego is taking it.1 point -

I finally revised my recreation of the L.M.S. Explorer. Here is the picture and its description, that I uploaded yesterday: Finally I managed to fix the problems, that I have found in my older version of the ship. Due to having a faster computer it was way easier and much faster to work with LeoCAD (loading the file takes ~ 5 seconds), though I recommend saving all the time since the program can crash (I have two saves in case, that the program crashes during saving. That way I always have another save). I fixed quite a lot on that ship: -added teleporter/radar dishes at the bottom -added elevator shaft to the back of the bridge -changed the outside of the bridge a bit -modified the front to make it look more like in the videos and the magazine (thanks for uploading that picture, Ringtail ) (it means, that it is more narrow now and that I changed many elements on it) -changing the width of the whole ship a bit (reduced by 4 studs) due to the changed front -the upper layer is a bit wider due to the changed front -flat side walls (+adding black lines) -changed the antenna on top of the front -changed the dark grey structure next to the antenna on top of the front -changed the colours of the sidewall windows (although I probably have to change them again) -changed those dark grey openings/windows on top of the teal stripes etc. (they are one instead of two types now and they contain transparent elements now -changed the dark grey pit in front of the bridge -added Power Miners -changed the structure with the eleven domes, that you can see behind that top antenna -changed the area between the bridge and the dribes -changed many grey areas to dark grey ones after checking the sources again -removed useless bricks inside the ship -stuff, that I have forgotten to mention There is still room for improvements on that ship, but I like it more than the older version. The next thing will probably be a poster with pictures of the ship from different angles. I think, that I will also upload the ldr-file (can be used for LeoCAD and LDView. Mabye other programs, too). P.S.: The extended intro of Rock Raiders was also helpful for improving stuff like the front.1 point -

0/10 No chair = No points. Why do you even post this heresy on RRU? Excellent, Sparks. You have built a very accurate (real life!) version of the L.M.S. Explorer :D. Sadly I haven't really prepared a medal for this moment and I don't want to post the "there was an attempt"-star, because that would be just insulting^^. Sometimes I have seen posts, where people wrote, that they want to build the whole ship or at least a part of it and never done it, but you made it. Good job :). I think, that I haven't really checked the stability (to make a real version), because it was already difficult enough to create an accurate version on the computer. And now time for some questions: Did you have to change a lot to make it work in reality? Did you use my crazy construction technique for the lights above the control panels?^^ Did you try to build it in the older grey tones? Was it caused by some bricks not being available or because dealers demanded a crazy price (like 10 bucks per brick)? P.S.: It's nice to see, that this thread is still active after ~ 4 1/2 years.1 point -
