Cave faces have weird collision
Lair and one other reacted to lol username for a topic
My guess is when they were added in the collision wasn't updated or something. You can poke yourself and the camera through the blue and purple ones with the flying cheat code, and even see an occlusion culling bug where part of Space Mountain vanishes when the camera's in the right spot (gee it's almost like the camera isn't supposed to be there, lol). The green one has weird collision too but you can't poke the camera in as easily. Pics:2 points -
"Loose Rock" | Rock Raiders Remake (Also, Hello!)
le717 and one other reacted to aidenpons for a topic
There are several unrelated things that I'd like to say type so here have a list: 1) Welcome to RRU and as Cirevam said that is one heck of a first post. 2) Your work is amazing. Wowie! It already runs better than LRR in that Idleness Syndrome is not actually a thing 3) Check these two other existing possibly-being-worked-on stuff out: this and this (also check the next two blogposts in that list) There's a high chance that you could work together as I think both of those are still being worked on. 4) Nice placeholder model for the Tool Store 5) "The code is definitely a bit messy and needs to be cleaned up" I have never ever seen any coding that wasn't messy & could be cleaned up, not even in Scratch.2 points -
"Loose Rock" | Rock Raiders Remake (Also, Hello!)
noghiri reacted to BergerBytes for a topic
Hello! Haven't posted here before and only recently found the site, so I hope this is in the right section! I recently decided to give recreating rock raiders a go as it was one of my favorite PC games as a child. I've wanted to practice more with procedural meshes/content and AI, so rock raiders seemed to fit the bill! I haven't completed much as I only started working on it this year but I decided to share it anyway. The goal here is probably to build the game as a learning exercise and then build a more loosely based spiritual successor as a full game for release. But it's all up in the air, right now I am just having fun recreating the game. You can try it out with the link below, no need to install anything as it is deployed with WebGL, just keep in mind it's very much a work in progress. Let me know what you think and nice to meet you! Cheers, -Berger Play the prototype in the web browser!1 point -

"Loose Rock" | Rock Raiders Remake (Also, Hello!)

@BergerBytesNice work! This looks excellent so far. Also, I couldn't agree more; Unity definitely feels like the right tool for the job here @aidenponsCollaborating sounds like a great idea. Parts of my project's codebase are still a trainwreck due to ancient code written in a language with loose typing at a time when I had very little scalability in mind, so the last thing I want to do is subject anybody else to that. However, as a fairly experienced Unity developer I would be happy to lend a hand here should this project go open source.1 point -
DDI looking for help for Rock Raiders 2 (Rock Raiders inspired title)
noghiri reacted to aidenpons for a topic
"Voicing opinions with well-backed arguments" and "hate" are two rather different things, as I've learnt on RRU. We're very... vocal, when we have something we want to say. I've also noted that positive feedback (which is good) tend to take up less space than negative feedback (which is also good), as negative feedback usually needs some preliminary explanation... ... just two comments.1 point -

DDI looking for help for Rock Raiders 2 (Rock Raiders inspired title)
noghiri reacted to Cyrem for a topic
Who's "we"? and we don't all hate it. This is a feedback topic for DDI, still relevant should they actually do something. I still think the product they had in mind was very different to the impressions they were giving, thinking words like "Minecraft" would spark our interest without realizing it would do the complete opposite. Additionally vague ideas, a rushed website didn't give us much faith in the product. As a result, conclusions were jumped to on both parties and now the project's "icing". Still should they be working on it in secret I'd very much be interested in seeing what the came up with. Stewart is still following this topic and even though we asked him to actively communicate with us regularly to relieve some of the bad perceptions getting around, some sort of response on what is going on would be appreciated.1 point -

Piano Paint Music
qwakoo reacted to riedthiessen for a topic
Yeah... It sounds off at times, because its a little slow, octave limitations (I've only got 2 to work with), and the odd time it will play a note twice because of the running animation of the character. The characters running animation takes a step every 7.5'ish studs. So I had the music path at a bit of an angle for this, so the character would run across each note for slightly longer than 7 studs. Next I'm going to experiment with the running animations of different characters and animals, to see if I can find a way to play notes faster.1 point -
