LEGO Rock Raiders (PC) Longplay/Walkthrough
sheepandshepherd and 7 others reacted to Lair for a topic
after a week of failed recordings, two days of good recording, and then another week of trying to encode this piece of shit video to upload right without dropping framerate, here's a 100% longplay of the original PC version of LEGO Rock Raiders. This 11-hour titan is a full playthrough of all 33 levels and other stuff hell it's 8 AM I'm too tired to write something more creative here sorry. It's upscaled to 720p too so you can watch it in 60fps. Check the video description for timestamps of the individual levels. No mobile laser cutters are used.8 points -
LEGO Life App - "It's full of... stuff"

good The character creator uses animations also in LEGO Worlds (like the idle animation and a few others), so I guess TT provided some assets to LEGO for this? Also the character creator is just some pieces from collectible minifigs that for the most part, can't be combined that nicely... Hrm.5 points -

News Topics

I organized the news topics, then we decided to make some other changes to the organization of stuff. Topic sorting is still ongoing but as you can see, the whole LEGO Discussion section has gotten a revamp. I hope to get the rest of the unsorted topics moved to their proper places tonight. Edit - Pretty much done. Will make another sweep over everything later tonight to check for anything I may have missed.4 points -
Rock Raiders Novelization?
Raiderforce and 2 others reacted to Rock Raider Obsidian for a topic
Hello, everyone! This is my first post. I just found this site not too long ago, after trying to figure out how to make Rock Raiders work on my computer. I had no idea there was still such an active community this many years after the release of the game. Pretty much no one I've met has played it. I played it a LOT growing up and love it so much. So the point of this post, beyond saying hey to the community, is to try and get a feel for the question of: would anyone be interested in reading a novelization of Rock Raiders? I'm a self-published author who makes my living writing books and I still have a great love of fan fiction, since it's where I got my start. If I undertook a novelization of the game, would anyone be interested? Thanks for reading! -Obsidian3 points -

"Loose Rock" | Rock Raiders Remake (Also, Hello!)
noghiri reacted to BergerBytes for a topic
Hello! Haven't posted here before and only recently found the site, so I hope this is in the right section! I recently decided to give recreating rock raiders a go as it was one of my favorite PC games as a child. I've wanted to practice more with procedural meshes/content and AI, so rock raiders seemed to fit the bill! I haven't completed much as I only started working on it this year but I decided to share it anyway. The goal here is probably to build the game as a learning exercise and then build a more loosely based spiritual successor as a full game for release. But it's all up in the air, right now I am just having fun recreating the game. You can try it out with the link below, no need to install anything as it is deployed with WebGL, just keep in mind it's very much a work in progress. Let me know what you think and nice to meet you! Cheers, -Berger Play the prototype in the web browser!1 point -

Rock Raiders Novelization?

Welcome to RRU! Yeah, a Rock Raiders novelization would definitely be interesting. As far as characterization goes, you would probably have a lot of leeway to develop the crew as you wish (please have one of the focal characters be Generic Rock Raider #0937). Perhaps you could give us a taste of your writing style before committing to a major project like that, such as through sharing a draft of the first chapter or a short story. Looking forward to reading more from you!1 point -

Agreed - I've occasionally moved some news topics into other forums once they get big enough for exactly these reasons (like the LEGO Worlds or Portal Racers topics for example). I could easily sort the rest of the news topics into their proper places if the admins agree, since not *all* of them would end up in LEGO General Discussion.1 point -
Chima title secret?
Alcom Isst reacted to Ben24x7 for a topic
I had a thought one time. I had the idea that the name 'Chima' was actually related to the place China. In China (Japan as well) there is a type of drawing called Manga (some of you already know this (maybe)) and sometimes in manga drawings there are animals that speak or characters which happen to have cat ears. This made me think, is this why Lego had the minifigures in animal form? Is this why the called it Chima (replacing the 'n')? It is possible anyway. Please post up feedback on this theory.1 point
