    Rock Raider remake

Quick intro, hi everyone, I'm a 3D artist. Basically, rock raiders was one of my most beloved games when I was a kid. So the idea struck me, why not make some rock raiders 3D stuff. (Turns out recreating a 64x64 texture by hand is not the easiest thing in the world) Before: After:

    lcdr & humanoid's Server Project - Update

Now that the custom LU server community is picking up motion again lately, it might be time to remind the world we're still around. We're lcdr and humanoid. Three years ago, when no one knew anything at all about how LU's network worked, humanoid managed to decrypt the network traffic captured by pwjones before the game closed and wrote the first server prototype. I then added functionality to load worlds, even though at the time all the server did was send packets from the captured traffics and no dynamic functionality was implemented. In the weeks afterwards, conflict arose between timtech and raffa on hosting and modification rights of this code. Not interested in the drama and knowing that only focused development could eventually lead to a working server, humanoid and I continued our work in private. However we still wanted the knowledge we gained from analysing the client and the packets to be accessible to other projects, so we published documentation from our findings. The timtech/raffa conflict eventually caused the forum to fracture, and most remaining public projects failed to develop any meaningful improvements over the initial version. However we continued our work in private, moving steadily closer to a fully functioning server. In the last three years, we have spent countless hours analysing the client, the packets and the required network interaction. Moreso, I have implemented our findings in a server which should be the most complete implementation around. Currently implemented: Missions Achievements Inventory Quickbuilds A Scripting system NPCs Enemies & Smashables (AI being worked on) Multiplayer and many more As you can see in the video, all the functionality for a fully playable Venture Explorer is there, and other Worlds are almost completely working. Notable exceptions are minigames like Survival and Racing, which I am currently working on. We are not releasing any public release at this point because we want to deliver a playable server that is able to provide sustained gameplay to players. We've been considering releasing since about a year ago but decided against it because much still needs to be implemented for the game to be fully playable. Nonetheless, we think that competition and sharing of information is a good thing, and we wish DLU the best of luck with their server project. Perhaps with time more server projects even will appear too. We hope that other projects also take part in the spirit of shared information and publish their findings or amend our documentation when something new is discovered. The more we know about the network the sooner a fully working server can be realized. Anyways, I'll be around to answer any questions, and as mentioned in the docs, we're on IRC sometimes too.

    Top-down LRR demake sprites

Yesterday, someone on the RRU Discord suggested the idea of a top-down LRR game in the style of Lego Loco. I have begun making sprites for such a game! Here is a gif I put together of a Raider carrying an Energy Crystal, to demonstrate the sprite style. Of course, I still have to make the sprites for him walking up and down, as well as his arm-swinging animation for when he's walking without holding anything. I'll also make sprites of him being scared and using tools and weapons.

"Loose Rock" | Rock Raiders Remake (Also, Hello!)

Like I said, it's WinXP. It has nothing to do with Fx dropping plugin support. WebGL is based on OpenGL, and OpenGL requires support from your GPU. It's likely your OpenGL support is limited (I doubt AMD/nvidia has taken the effort to backport such new technology to a 16 yr old, unsupported OS) and as a result, you can't play it. We're back to my original post: Mystery solved.

    TT Games acquires Playdemic

So a friend of mine managed to steal the logo of one of Playdemic's LEGO Mobile games, and so far it looks... interesting... ...jokes aside, this is a bit of a risky move for TTGames, especially if the final game(s) turns into horrible little things dotted with pay-to-play microtransactions everywhere. But I hope TTGames has done the right thing, and to be honest, making mobile games allows them to reach a broader range of players (instead of being limited to consoles, like Dimensions *grumble grumble*, or PC).

    Favorite LRR Playstyle

When base building, I used to build the exact same base design every time (unless the cave was too small to accommodate it); Place a Power Path at the front of the Tool Store, attach a Teleport Pad on one side, a Power Station on the other, place TWO additional Power Paths beside them and place a Support Station on the left and an Upgrade Station on the right. Basically, something like this: Then I'd teleport down some Transport Trucks and Small Diggers, upgrade them fully, and make the level absurdly easy. The only reason I got into this build pattern was because I used to play Lava Laughter a lot... ...Seriously, A LOT.

Roblox New Logo? and Anthem Video

Heh. Funny how the pine trees look like the ones in LU, too. Not implicating anything by pointing that out, I just find it amusing.

    Rock Raiders Novelization?

Welcome to RRU! Yeah, a Rock Raiders novelization would definitely be interesting. As far as characterization goes, you would probably have a lot of leeway to develop the crew as you wish (please have one of the focal characters be Generic Rock Raider #0937). Perhaps you could give us a taste of your writing style before committing to a major project like that, such as through sharing a draft of the first chapter or a short story. Looking forward to reading more from you!
