Unused Flying Legandos Torso
Zed reacted to lol username for a topic
Pardon the Fraps FPS counter, but just for a refresher, those are the Flying Legandos. Note the ones with the yellow ? torsos. They're likely not intended to look like that. Here's the L, E, G, and O torso texture. The file names are... Well, L, E, G, and O. But there's also this unused texture, "L6": And the yellow question mark texture is "Unkchst" (unknown chest): (A higher res version, stored separately and with a different name, is also used for the pyramids in the jet ski race, which is an interesting tidbit but not really relevant) Now, here's how the LI1 torsos work: Each one of those is a separate 3D model, identical except for the colored textures used. Here's bodyblue, for example: It has three materials/textures: LEGOBLUE, LEGOBLUEFLAT, and DUMMY. The first is for the phong shaded blue areas of the model, the second for the flat shaded blue areas (see here for more info on that), and DUMMY is the red texture on the front. When the game loads a character with a blue torso, it loads that model, then replaces DUMMY with character's intended torso texture. So it seems likely that those characters are intended to use L6, but for some reason that fails, and it defaults to Unkchst. Why? I dunno. It's odd that it's higher resolution than most of the other torsos, but Bill Ding's torso is also that size, so that can't be the reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯1 point -
LEGO Worlds News And Discussion

While all of us are just loving this and half a stud way from making a gush post... .... the forums are aflame again. Check this out - the Negative Reviews section. Most of the flame is around the fact that you now need 100 Gold Bricks to generate infinite worlds. Many people have pointed out that the big "Early Access" label exists for a reason, but they're met with the same response as before when TT did a "2-for-1" sale. And it's confirmed - the Elimbiers have come over to buy LW and rant.1 point -
HTML5 Rock Raiders Remake
risingstar64 reacted to darkf for a topic
I am. I'm developing it in private for now, but I'll release it when it's done. I plan on writing a series of devlog posts giving information on it. When that happens I'll be able to help you with NERPS scripting, since I've written a NERPS interpreter for mine (at least enough to run the logic for Driller Night right now.) It's pretty simple, and it shouldn't be very hard to integrate with your game. If you need any other info (on LRR or in general), don't hesitate to ping me. For now, enjoy this somewhat related fan game demo I just made: http://www.rockraidersunited.com/topic/7778-release-rock-raiders-rumble-a-demo-fan-game/ Cheers1 point -

LEGO Creator Dev Comments
Lair reacted to lol username for a topic
I'm sure many people here have seen this video already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srpXXSA-DnY A kid and his dad playing LEGO Creator on September 7th, 2001... Happily building a house, turning it into a skyscraper, then blowing it up with a destructa-brick... Yeah. Anyway, I was reminded of this video tonight while discussing the game with a friend, and noticed these comments on it, by the same person (a developer), somewhere around a year apart: On a related note, on October 15-16 2011, somebody constructed a pretty specific overview of the development of the entire series on Wikipedia. Here are the bits he/she added: Yes, yes, this is Wikipedia, home to many a load of BS (see below) - but given the details of what was written in this instance, this doesn't particularly smell of BS to me, it smells more like a dev or somebody else involved writing about the process the series went through. (Side note: There are no other edits to any articles listed under that IP, besides that batch of edits on the LEGO Creator article.) Now for that BS - a previous edit to the Creator page claimed that it was to have a N64 port, but after looking into the magazine the edit referenced and edit history of the editor, it seems that either said editor has a bizarre sense of humor or he/she was editing Wikipedia while drunk. There seems to be no evidence for any of his/her claims anywhere - which included saying that LCKK was going to have PS1 and N64 ports, that LI2 had a N64 port that was forcibly canceled by a magazine in anger after reviewing it, and that DDI was "similar to Nintendo", all while sometimes including bizarre and vague insults at things. Ah, the internet!1 point
