    LR2 Texture Templates/Guide

Here's UV maps of LR2's minifig model, gotten by rigging up Will's LibLR2 DLL to some OBJ exporting code in Unity (lol) and then exporting UV maps with Unwrap3D. Those are at the same size as the in-game textures, aka tiny. Here's larger versions: As you can see, they're kinda messy and asymmetrical, but the worst is the front of the legs... they hardly even tried for symmetry, and each leg is also mirrored: Achu is the only character in the vanilla game with leg printing, so I guess they just never noticed his leg printing was mirrored and squished. Also, here's a transparent legs texture I made (it's just the white legs run through Gimp's color to transparency feature): Which makes it easier to make legs textures in any color (wow LICEcap really did a number on the color wheel here haha): Now, for torsos. It's important to note that the torso model/textures also contain the neck, which is part of the head on real minifigures - don't ask me why they did it that way. Also, while the UV map is intended to have both hands as the same color, if you have a large enough texture you can have them as unique colors, since the UVs for each hand aren't *exactly* in the same place. The smallest texture size you can do this with is 512x512, any lower and they'll blur together. (You might have also noticed that the legs have two tiny UV islands, that you'd hope would let you color the left and right legs independently... Sadly, nope. One is the tops of both legs, the other is the rest of both legs.) Here's a 512x512 torso template I made. The main torso decal area (red) is slightly wider than in vanilla textures - it's more accurate to the UV map, and avoids the side of the texture bleeding into the front of the torso, as happens with vanilla textures. The darker blue is unused space. And here's what it looks like in-game: Oh yeah... And the torso is mapped in such a way that it distorts textures. And here's the whole model with a checkerboard pattern: Good luck making your textures look perfect, haha.

Revert to the old reputation system

Honestly, i don't mind keeping the new reputation system, even if there are just 2 people who ever uses anything more than "Like" i don't think it would be worth the effort to change it back. Besides one might get used to the new system as time passes by.

Cafeteria 1.0 BETA 7 - Launcher & Mod Loader for LRR

Ok another update with more news. I'm going to change how it works so that it uses the Data method as it's primary. This is how it's going to work (I have it losely working). On initial install of Cafeteria it will make a backup of your wads, placing them in the Cafeteria folder, it will then extract them into a folder called "DataSource". Cafeteria will grab the files out of DataSource, apply the mods then transfer the modified file into the final "Data" folder. From there you can run the game. DataSource is the basing, they can be vanilla files or an extracted overhaul. The Launch button will be separated into 2 buttons, one called "Build" the other "Play". This means the building does not need to take place every time you start RR even if you didn't modify anything. Instead, whenever you add mods to cafeteria, change a resolution or install a custom level... only then would you perform a build. (I could potentially allow you to keep backups of each build you do as a WAD) You can now also do experimental mods that you don't intend on keeping by modifying the final files in the "Data" folder. The next time you do a build, all those files will be overwritten. To make any permanent changes, you can modify the DataSource files, or make a Cafeteria Patch. This does mean you can use only the resolution mod if you wish. WAD output instead of Data will remain an option if you wish.

Revert to the old reputation system

While the update has made the site look sharper than ever, I think that the change regarding the like/reputation system was unwarranted and hardly an improvement. From what I could tell, people used different emoticon thingies during the first two days after RRU's return, and then just stuck with the default "like" for every occurrence I've seen since then. I find the change unpractical as most do, from what I could gather, so isn't it possible to simplify the whole thing and revert back to the old system? I would also like to hear people's opinion on this. It's not very important in the end but I guess it's worthy of being discussed, as it's one of the core features of the site after all. By the way, I don't mean to be rude or anything. I do think that Cyrem did a wonderful job with the new site. I just wanted to bring this up for some reason.

Revert to the old reputation system

It'd be nice to have "lego-ized" emotes instead of the generic smileys, but other than that I'm completely neutral towards the new system innit.

    No Intro videos

It's possible to get rid of all the startup videos with a simple parameter. Create a shortcut to _msr.exe Right Click the shortcut and click on properties At the end of the 'Target' path add "/NOINTROVIDEO" (without quotes) after the file closing quote. (e.g "C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO\Stunt Rally\_msr.exe" /NOINTROVIDEO) Parameters are combinable with the others Handy because the LMedia intro takes forever. Another one to enjoy.

    Review: Xalax-racers

LEGO Racers #4568, #4574, #4576, #4577 Xalax-racers Review by RobExplorien At last, back at the pioneering LEGO Racers sets. The Xalax-racers (also known as the Crash 'em Racers) were released along with the introduction of the Racers theme, thus being released in 2001. They were sold for $2,99 each (according to Brickipedia). Fair price? You decide after this review. Highlighting in this review are the following sets of this subtheme: #4568 (Loopin), #4574 (Rip), #4576 (Duster) and #4577 (Snake). All Xalax-racers (as far as I know of) were sold with this iconic 'box'. They feature each racer's logo (which is a sticker) and the LEGO logo on the front. You open them by simply folding 'em out. It acts as a sort of storage for the racer itself, and making it easy for transport. You also put a sticker on the inside on the box, which shows the racer's qualities (acceleration, power, traction and stunt respectively). The more yellow dots, the better. Since all racers are made from the same material and they only differ in printings and colour, they do not really have individual qualities. They merely serve as an extra feature to the set. Below an image of Rip with his box. If you still like to know each racer's qualities, here's a list of them. Rip (darkblue): Acceleration: 4/5 Power: 2/5 Traction: 4/5 Stunt: 1/5 Duster (beige): Acceleration: 3/5 Power: 4/5 Traction: 1/5 Stunt: 3/5 Snake (brightgreen): Acceleration: 3/5 Power: 1/5 Traction: 4/5 Stunt: 3/3 Loopin (blue/green): Acceleration: 3/5 Power: 1/5 Traction: 2/5 Stunt: 5/5 (how predictable) Each racer consists of 4 parts: Xalax-minifigure (Rama), front brick, rear brick and chassis. The colours and printings of these vehicles are as said before different for each racer. The chassis has a 'coloured' bumper and a 'gray' bumper. When the racer bumps into a wall with the gray bumper (or into another racer), he will fly off his seat. This little feature is what I most remembered from these sets. This feature is not present in the game LEGO Racers 2, even though the vehicle is practically the same. Along with buying this set, you'd also get a poster. All fifteen racers are pictured on the poster, where you can see them in action. I don't know exactly which of the Xalax-racers featured in the game LEGO Racers 2, but I'm sure that Warrior (uppermost right) was one of them. The two uppermost racers in the picture can be seen bumping into eachother and flying off their seat (the gray bumper feature). The back of the poster shows a how to build and how to use the 'box' as a slammer. Use two rubber bands and attach them to the 'box' as shown on the poster, and then you've made yourself a slammer. That way you can give the vehicle a boost to make daring stunts or to cut off other racers. What took my interest on this poster was the lower right corner. The "Coming soon: LEGO Racers 2" quote was pretty funny to see, and from this I take it that the Xalax-racers were released before the LEGO Racers 2 game, possibly as a promotional stunt for the game. There was also a special edition Xalax-racer: Ghost. Down here you can see how it would look if you turn the 'box' into a slammer. Pictured is Duster. You can see where you have to attach the rubber bands, and by slamming on the logo, you would give the vehicle a boost. Having this set examined and tested, I come to the following conclusion: The 'box' looks very detailed and features the racer's logo on the front. It can be turned into a slammer to give your Rama a boost. The poster added in this set shows you all the Xalax-racers to collect, and features the simple instructions for building the vehicle. It also shows you other neat stuff, like games to play with the racers and stunts that you can do with them. The Ramas are not an actual minifigure, but rather one solid brick with their hand and feet around their steering wheel. The vehicle itself has nice printings in wacky colours. To just play with one small Xalax-racer is actually fun. You can perform stunts with the help of the slammer, and crash your Rama into walls to make them fly off their seets. Ofcourse adding more racers could be more fun, but that's what you decide. Rating Design: 9 Quality: 8 Fun: 7 Price: 9

I Know What File Sharing Ddi Used In Lrr

What credits? The credits to LRR? The heck did you get onto a computer used by someone who worked on LRR? Sonic, the picture is from wikipedia. "Credits" are the words that show up after you watch a movie or beat a game.
