I thought that Pepper beared some resemblance to Commander Keen, so I decided to make him look like the title character. Also felt like using Keen's in-game sprite colors instead of being accurate to the game cover.

Idleness Syndrome: What is the Root Cause?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rock Raiders. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of overcaffeinated developer tendencies most of the jokes will go over a typical player's head. There’s also Chief's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from LEGO Mania Magazine, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LEGOS. As a consequence people who dislike Rock Raiders truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Chief’s existential catchphrase “A landslide has occurred,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Bricks 'n Pieces' epic Captain Indigo. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Stewart Green’s genius wit unfolds itself on their CRT monitors. What fools.. how I pity them. ? And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rock Raiders tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the guy’s eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid ? Edit: FFS fellas, this now has more likes than rrcoder's post...

    JimbobJeffers' Maps

Just look at that cover image... I can feel the tension already. This thread will contain all my LRR maps, as I create them, rather than creating a separate thread for each one. I doubt I'll make enough to replace all 25 levels in the game, but who knows? For my first custom RR map, I present Crystal Catastrophe. There's room for improvement, but I'm happy with how it is. This map basically combines a few different level ideas from the original game into one. Map Name: Crystal Catastrophe Back Story: "Welcome, Rock Raider! This mission has two objectives, but first, let me explain the situation. A huge deposit of energy crystals was recently detected nearby, and a team of Rock Raiders was sent to find it. However, communication was lost and we have no idea what has happened - therefore your primary objective is to find the lost team of Rock Raiders, and your secondary objective is to locate the energy crystal seams and collect one hundred energy crystals! Good luck, Rock Raider.Oh, before I forget - our scanners have also picked up-*bzzzt*" Map Objective: Collect 100 Energy Crystals Replaces: Level 18 Difficulty: Easy Estimated Completion Time: 1 Hour Download: Crystal Catastrophe The second map I've made is Hard Luck. I was experimenting with the Height Map on this one, and also trying to get Rock Monsters programmed correctly. I like it, but unfortunately it's still not as challenging as I'd hoped. Map Name: Hard Luck Back Story: "This is going to be a tricky mission, Rock Raider. Scanners aboard the LMS Explorer have detected energy crystals around this cavern, but unfortunately the area isn't particularly level, and surrounded by water! Establish Rock Raider HQ and build a Cargo Carrier. Then, transport a Small Digger across the river and find a location to rebuild the HQ, so that you can finally collect 75 Energy Crystals. Good luck, Rock Raider!" Replaces: Level 09 Difficulty: Easy/Medium Estimated Completion Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes Download: Hard Luck Installation instructions are included in downloads. All Estimated Completion Times assume the game is set to the fastest game speed throughout.

    Let's Go Swimming!

Let's go swimming! (Le,,,go swim) Fixed a bug with the objective text. Thank you Lair! Back Story: Your Rock Raiders team is mining in a cave near a big lake to look for Energy Crystals. Meanwhile a malfunction of the teleporter caused the buildings to teleport out except the Docks. You have to get back to the second potential HQ further away from the water where a Tool Store is still left. Map Objective: Collect 90 Energy Crystals Difficulty: Medium Installation instructions: If you want this level to replace Level 12 (Water Works) one (instead of adding it to the other), use the (replacing Level12) CFG for installing the map. But you can also use the (added custom level) CFG. In this case the level will be located left of Driller's night (you also have to change some other parts in the Lego.CFG, everything explained in the ZIP file). DOWNLOAD

    The Schism

Back with my second released map. This one is also quite challenging, but in a different way than The Algorithm. It requires some careful micromanagement, while puzzles play only a minor role. Map Name: The Schism Back Story: A Rock Raider was separated from two others by a lava stream that had suddenly erupted from under the surface of the cavern. The three Raiders were part of a lightly equipped expeditionary force tasked with recovering a Hover Scout. Map Objective: Reunite the Raiders and evacuate them from the rapidly growing lava lake. Help them find their way back to the HQ to the South, and bring the Hover Scout to the HQ. Scans indicate the presence of Lava Monsters near the HQ; be prepared to defend it. Difficulty: Hard / Very Hard Download Link: Patch: http://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r114/ Manual: https://ore.rockraidersunited.org/legacy/TheSchism_407462.zip Manual Installation: Put the folder TheSchism in Levels and replace Level22 in Lego.cfg by the supplied code. (It's wise to backup Lego.cfg first, in case you want to undo installation). Note: - It is recommended that you play this with unupgraded raiders. If you play it with upgraded raiders, the difficulty is easy/medium. - you will not automatically win the level once you have brought the Hover Scout to the HQ. This is because I could not find a way to do this with the game's script commands. You can use a debug key (Ctrl+S) to win if you want. Some screenies of the starting areas:

Idleness Syndrome: What is the Root Cause?

It's almost certainly just a software bug. I feel like this isn't the right place to be going on thread-unrelated political tangents.

Nick Nuwe - On Thin Ice

Surprise! It's an Irish folk song. Except it's got guns! This is probably my new favorite track of mine, even with all the repetitions (which by the way are very intentional). This track is like 80% stuff I've never used or tried before, so it's got a very fresh sound. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

    Bad Conditions

Bad Conditions by alan Back Story: The Rock Raiders discovered a huge cave near a magma reservoir. There is no more lava flowing into this cave, so the borders of the lava cool down and become hard or loose rock. You need to drill through these thick rock layers to collect all 110 Energy Crystals. Map Objective: Collect 110 Energy Crystals. Difficulty: Easy/Medium Installation Instructions: This level will not replace any other level. Put the level folder "BadConditions" into Data\Levels\GameLevels\ (DATA method) or LegoRR0\Levels\GameLevels\ Then add the level configurations and the custom level setup to your own Lego.cfg (see description in the download). When you have done all that correctly, the level should appear at the right side of Frozen Frenzy (Level09). DOWNLOAD Please tell me what you think of that level so I can improve my level designing skills and please correct translation mistakes! Thank you!

    The Algorithm

Map Name: The Algorithm Back Story: We have established the Rock Raider HQ in a safe cavern rich in ore, but containing no Energy Crystals. Scanners aboard the LMS Explorer show a cavern exceptionally rich in Crystals North of the HQ; however, there seems to be no direct path to it. Find a way to reach it, and then collect fifty energy crystals. We know of the presence of Monsters in surrounding caverns; be on your guard, for if they manage to steal an Energy Crystal, it could well make the goal inachievable. Map Objective: Collect 50 Crystals Difficulty: Medium/Hard Download link: Download / Download PatchMan Version Instructions: Put the Level03 folder in the downloaded zip file in the Rock Raiders/Data/Levels/GameLevels folder. Paste the included configuration text into the Level03 spot of the LEGO.cfg file. Start a new game or load an existing game. The level should appear on the right-hand side. The level is quite a bit more challenging, but still possible, if your raiders start unupgraded.

    LEGO Island 2 Beta Video

I decided I would note the differences in this video compared to the Lego Island we all own and have. 1) apparently houses/buildings grow or shrink while spinning around. a reference to the PS1 version. 2) When driving a boat there is no water particles rushing out from the sides. 3) The bricks in the scuba diving mission are blue but turn red when you pick them up. 4) The clam's delay in the diving mission is shortened but could've possibly been made longer for the player to actually get out. 5) In the castle world there are knights on the bridge after it is repaired. 6) In the mummy's tomb there is a black fog inside. 7) At the area in the mummie's tomb where the constructopedia page is there are columns surrounding it. 8) because of the black fog the boulder cannot be seen. 9) In the desert car dash (I think that is what its called) mission the car is green, not red. 10) In the desert world the image for the diamonds are a different picture. 11) In the bi-plane mission there is a turquoise fog. 12) The Mr Hates camp mission has a white fog. 13) In the fishing mission there is no sky. 14) In the fishing mission there is some sort of speedometer in the bottom left. 15) In the spaceship training (I forgotten what it is called) the ground is not grey, instead it is tan. 16) In the asteroid field mission the sky is lighter, making the asteroids more easier to spot. 17) The rocket ship controls in the asteroid field game is simplified. 18) In the asteroid field mission the rocket goes faster than in the finale version of the game. 19) In the space parachute the 'parachute' is completely black. 20) The targets in both parachute missions don't flash or are not animated. 21) Is anyone still reading this?

    The River

Just played this map. The environment was certainly a nice start to the level - I liked the winding river and the varying heights of the map. At first I thought 20 Energy Crystals was a bit low, but then I played through and realised it wasn't a walk in the park I had fun traversing the water with different modes of transport, too. All in all, a good map, well done. I wasn't sure what to do with all the ore, so went a bit Power Path crazy:
