20 Years of LEGO Island
Ayliffe and 2 others reacted to PeabodySam for a topic
So, hello again, RRU. For whatever reason, I was vaguely aware that the forums have been back from their big update/maintenance/downtime last year, but I haven't gotten around to really being as active here as I used to. Oh, well. Time to start posting random crap again. Like this, for example. I was sure not to miss the 20th anniversary of LEGO Island last year, so I threw together some animated clips of LEGO Island characters speaking lines from other roles played by their respective actors from the first game. Plus John Guerrasio as IXS Brickster, because he's actually a pretty decent actor when he's not doing voice acting for IXS. This was actually an idea that I've had for years, and it took the 20th anniversary to get me to stop procrastinating and just do it. Also, here's the DeviantArt mirror. When it comes to choosing a wretched hive of scum and villainy on the internet, I imagine most of you prefer YouTube over DeviantArt, but I also suppose that some may prefer to watch the Flash animation in its original higher quality, so there's that. I'm sure most of you have already seen this... but just in case, I figured I'd make my first topic on the new and improved RRU forums. Also, thanks Terrev for reminding me how to embed YouTube videos in Invision Forums posts, in the midst of a late-night Steam chat where my tired sleep-deprived brain turned my pretentious typing into an illegible mess.3 points -

I dont expect to even get close, but my goals are to make the models game and render ready together with animations. To hopefully be used in a remake or maybe short films. I doubt I'll get that close, but just to have fun while I try Edit: Have a minifigure I made to test myself in rigging and animating. The rig is not done yet, and Im still not sure if I just want to use stop motion for the facial animation or actually animate it myself (Not sure how to properly have a 2D mesh wrap onto the head and still be riggable)2 points -
1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer (+ldraw/studio 2.0 file downloads) - 2021-10-21: "Oh hey, this thread is 10 years old and still going!"

Explorer (LEGO Digital Designer file): https://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r192/ [NEWS]: (2021-10-21): With a delay of about three weeks I noticed that this thread is 10 years old XD. Let's see, if I can come up with something insightful on the spot to distract from my "perfect" timing^^: I still think that this is a cool project and I would probably do it again . With today's software and hardware that's easier to do than 10 years ago and makes you appreciate the effort that the people at DDI & LEGO put into designing the ship over 20 years ago. In regards to what I expected from making this thread/model and what actually happened the results are a bit all over the place: on one side I hoped that it would get featured on blogs and websites besides RRU and maybe even getting the attention from the LEGO Company itself, but that didn't really work out (I only remember two times, where the model was featured in a blog or video). Maybe I am too introverted and not annoying enough on social media to make the existence of this ship known to everyone XD. On the other side this thread has gotten a ton of views and replies over the last decade and people started to integrate the ship model into a game (like Manic Miners from baraklava) or game engine or make MOCs based on the digital models. Also a big thanks to Cyrem and Cirevam, because otherwise RRU wouldn't exist as a central hub for Rock Raiders related content. Cafeteria 1.0 BETA 7 - Launcher & Mod Loader for LRR
Haozu reacted to Cyrem for a topic
Cafeteria! 1.0 BETA 7 Cafeteria is a Game Launcher and Mod Loader for LEGO Rock Raiders. It allows you to play LEGO Rock Raiders mods without manual installation and also allows you to configure the various parameters of LEGO Rock Raiders/LEGO Rock Raiders Community Edition. Installation - First, download the latest version of Cafeteria at the bottom of this post. - Extract Cafeteria and all its files into the installation directory of LEGO Rock Raiders. This is usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Media\Games\Rock Raiders - Your installation is finished. Whenever you want to play, start Cafeteria and launch the game through it instead. Requirements Most new computers already have these installed, however if you are missing one, you may get errors in the program. - .NET Framework 4.5 (Download) Installing Mods Mods come in files with the extension *.wadp. You can find mods in topics on this forum. To install a mod, simply place the WADP file inside the "Mods" directory or use the "Add Patch" button. You can confirm a mod has been installed and is valid by visiting the "Mod Manager" tab in Cafeteria where it will display. Ordering Mods Using the arrows on the interface you can move mods up and down. Mods at the end of the list are considered "low priority" and mods up the top are considered "high priority". Mods are installed in order from Low to High Priority. As some mods overlap others or must be applied after other mods, you can order them in the correct installation order. FAQ I heard this allows playing LRR in high resolutions? You did hear correctly. Old versions of Cafeteria did allow this, however this has since changed. Playing LRR in high resolution has now been moved to the Rock Raiders Community Edition project where it will be built into the game. How do I make my own Patches? Please see this topic: Patch Documentation for Cafeteria Changelog 1.0 BETA 7 Added "Addons" to Online Mod library for installing things like D3DRM. Fixed case sensitivity on CFG:Open Added Context Menu Items "Remove Patch" and "Open in File Explorer" Added "Create New Patch" under Tools. This will create a new patch with file structure under "Mods" and added it to the Mod list. 1.0 BETA 6 CFG:AddBlock will not duplicate an existing block. CFG:AddProperty will not duplicate an existing property, instead it will update an existing property. 1.0 BETA 5 Fixed encoding issues with languages other than English. 1.0 BETA 4 Renamed JMP command to CMP command Added new JMP command to simply jump to labels without compare. Added online library for mods (not much yet still adding) Mod description tooltips. Added patch log to see the last log of patch applications. Added "FileAdd" "FileRemove" "DirectoryMerge" to replace "WAD:..." equivalents. These have enhanced debugging messages. Old commands have not been removed. 1.0 BETA 3 Added variables & related commands: VAR / VAR:FromCFG / VAR:Increment / VAR:Decrement Added the ability to Jump in a script with JMP <variable> <opcode> <value> <jumplabel> Added format specified to variable output {var|D2} = 01, {var|F2} = 1.00 Added the ability to work with ANY config file, CFG, AE, PTL, OL etc. Just CFG:Open <path> and CFG:Save when done. 1.0 BETA 2 Removed case sensitivity from AddFilesFromDirectory. Added Patch Extract and ReBuild into right-click menu. Automatically saves and reloads mods before rebuilding. Misc changes. 1.0 BETA 1 Too many changes to list since 0.9.3 Download 1.0 BETA1 point -
Info from TT's founder
Supersonic reacted to lol username for a topic
Note: This will be moved into the correct part of RRU and given a proper tag when that section opens. Jon Burton, founder of TT Games, started a YouTube channel (GameHut) a few months ago. There's isn't much LEGO content on it (yet), but last night he created a Discord server (a link is available here), with a LEGO channel. Here's a few interesting things to come out of it so far (the server was quite busy, so occasionally I've snipped out some irrelevant messages just to keep things tidy): Also, he said this in the comments section of this video: For those who haven't read it yet, here's that Jonathan Smith interview mentioned in the chat logs: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/qanda-lego-star-wars-producer-jonathan-smith/1100-6165669/ And here's a few relevant portions of it: Jon never replied to anything specifically about the Soccer game, oh well.1 point -

Wowzers, impressive stuff! Did a little LDD/LeoCAD -> Blender stuff myself and did not enjoy cleaning up the mess, and that was just one small model. What's the end goal here? Just curious if this is a purely personal project or if you've got something else in mind too.1 point -
