Stunt Rally DVD-ROM With HQ Videos
noghiri and one other reacted to ZANTHERA for a topic
I'm not sure if this is known but I spotted this DVD-ROM version of Stunt Rally on eBay recently and was curious as to why it was a DVD-ROM and not a CD-ROM so I bought it. It turns out it has a load of video content that features a behind the scenes look at the games development, the UK advert for the game, plus adverts for three different LEGOLAND theme parks as well as a Rock Raiders set/game advert. What I was really hoping to be on the disc turned out to indeed be present, there is a full PAL DVD quality version of the games 3D animated intro. It's 720 x 576 at 25fps which beats the hell out of the tiny 320 x 240 at 15fps version seen on start up. There are even snippets of Glacier's outro in the behind the scenes video in this same quality but sadly not all of the outro videos used throughout the game are present. The ones seen in game are however much better quality, they are 25fps and have much higher bit rate audio than the outros from a later re-release I have from Focus which came bundled with Island Xtreme Stunts, I have seen these higher quality outro videos in playthroughs so it's not surprising they are there, but this does tell us they for some reason skimped on the quality for the re-releases. Below are comparisons between the two, it seems they didn't render the final sequence with anti aliasing so there are some jaggies here and there but it's definitely not an upscale, there is way too much detail that can be seen. The pictures go AVI then DVD but then again it's rather obvious which is which, the DVD version does seem to have an overall different coloration to it and seems a bit green at times, I'm going to work on it to see if I can get the colors more consistent and match real element colors better.2 points -
Stunt Rally DVD-ROM With HQ Videos

I've discovered that the end of the intro is slightly different to the one on start up. The rocket power up that Brad Speedo picks up is closer to the camera, so further away from him, and the crane that drops the power up is missing pieces from the model at the top of it and positioned differently. These pictures also demonstrate the absolutely huge difference in quality between the two, I'm really looking forward to working on the intro and make it framed just like the start up version. Also I know it's been said that LEGO tend not to care about the older stuff but I decided to email them and ask them for permission to upload it to avoid any possible strikes on my channel.2 points -
Interesting LEGO Star Wars hidden characters
RobberBaron reacted to RampantLeaf for a topic
I recently got the PC version of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga after having played it on Wii for many years, so I've decided to do some file sifting and minor modding to have some fun. (thanks McJobless for your guide!) Anyway, after loading a whole bunch of cutscene-only characters in the Negotiation level at the beginning of the game, I decided to look in the CHARS\CHARS.txt file for some more characters to insert. Interestingly, among other things that you guys may have already found, I found... the curtain from Jabba's Palace, which I noticed made noises when punched in the level the baby versions of Anakin and Padmé, which floated, to my amusement Luke Skywalker "pyjamas" variant, which turned out to just be Luke from the end Episode 5 cutscene "Duvet", an odd translucent blanket that's arched at the end like someone is in it. I'm assuming this is from the scene where Padme is in the medical room ...among other things. I also found some crude words mentioned in some of the code, probably for dummy or placeholder text, such as b00b, t!t and poop. But the strangest character I found was this... He floats a bit above the ground, has hands but no body, a grey beard and bushy eyebrows and odd eyes. His file name is "SanSweet" and he's under "////extras", possibly named after Steve Sansweet, who owns the largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia. His picture is below: It looks like he could have been a planned playable character for the game. Although he has a huge and tall collision box and no animations, his folder curiously is full of files, many for standard animation files. He also has a few files beginning with "GHOSTBENKENOBI", hinting at who his base character was. If anyone's interested in taking a closer look, go ahead! Just posting because I hadn't seen any mentioning of it here yet.1 point -
.gsc files in LEGO Star Wars: TCS PC character customization
sinftw reacted to lol username for a topic
The GSCs contain several DDS files within themselves. You'd open your new custom DDS in a hex editor (perhaps HxD), copy its data, then open the GSC, find where the DDS you want to replace is, and paste your custom DDS file/data over it. This will only work if your custom DDS is the same size (was exported with the same settings as) the one you're replacing.1 point -
.gsc files in LEGO Star Wars: TCS PC character customization
sinftw reacted to Sluicer for a topic
I am sorry. I did not read the topic header precisely. The info I gave is from SW3. The files you want to change should be easy to change. Just exchange the dds files in the gsc files with a hex editor. Before you do that you have to check the header (size, mipmap count, etc) of the original dds and create one with the same parameters. That should result in a dds with exactly the same size.1 point -
.gsc files in LEGO Star Wars: TCS PC character customization

I don't remember any of the customizable characters in The Complete Saga having animated faces... I thought they were all static textures. Or was that just LSW2? Or is that just in the customizer itself, not when you're actually playing as the characters...?1 point -

I am not sure if there are images in all the .gsc files. Sometimes there are - sometimes not. But in general .gsc and .ghg files are containing 3D data. This is also for the faces. Here is an example of Aaylas face: I found also a lot of 'relative' vertices that are used for the animations of the faces. It will not be easy to mod these. I do not know if there are also characters without .gsc files. Tuskenraider maybe. But I think you will have to look into the .cd files.1 point -
