Nuisance Pack Ideas
trigger_segfault reacted to aidenpons for a topic
One of the purposes of Improvements Pack was simply to make the game less annoying to play - bats no longer scare, recharge seams on many levels, fix erosion priority... Future version coming soon, which includes sounds for small monsters, dedicated erosion notification, and more map updates ... But what about Nuisance Pack? Here are some ideas: - Enabled unused side-panel notifications, like: - - A Wall has been Drilled - - A Building has been Constructed - - Dynamite has been Placed - - A Raider has been Trained as a Driver - Many, many, more Small Spiders - - Crystal Caches are 50% crystals and 50% Small Spiders - - Small Spiders can emerge mid-way through levels - Power Paths cost 10 ore - All priorities are in a useless jumbled order with some disabled on level start - Sleeping Rock Monsters hide behind every wall - All vehicles now drive like drunks - The upgrade animation is ponderously slow - The Tool Store provides sandwiches and raiders need to eat sandwiches much more frequently - Weapons now only work at point-blank - The Power Station is the very last building that can be built I'd like to hear your ideas1 point -
Nuisance Pack Ideas

Knowing LRR, after these nuisances are added, the game will actually play better. It's a neat idea for some amusement and whenever you feel too happy and want to get frustrated.1 point -
Run LEGO Rock Raiders with dgVoodoo
Lightsouled reacted to K1ll3rm4n for a guide
I was about to give up but I managed to play it without the weird white black errors, game is now running flawlesly, it saves, and plays at full speed, I still cannot believe it I managed it on win 10 with AMD. I already wanted to buy some old Thinkpad laptop with Win XP so I could play this game again.... the prices of these things are suprisingly low. To fix this, I had to change one thing in the dgvoodoo - Output API in General tab - change it to "Direct3d 11 (feature level 10.0)" and voila, suddenly it worked without trouble. DONT leave it at "best available". This will probably not help you much, but reinstall from scratch, follow this guide to the letter (BUT MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE LATEST dgvoodoo 2.62), and then, always change one thing in the dgVoodoo, try to run it, if it does not work try again changing another setting, and again run it... It took me whole week but there are so many specifics that can work on different machines. And don“t forget the D3D9.dll, it may not make a difference but try every possible fix one by one, there are many fixes described on the forum.1 point -

I ripped music from LEGO Battles years back and also noticed at least one test map among its map files. Didn't really try modding it though. But if anyone wants to try, that might be a good starting goal; getting that loaded up in-game (swapping it around with one of the normal maps perhaps?).1 point -

I won't say that it's super difficult but it's more like different playground. If you want to be legal then the starting modding your game is the hardest part because you first have to own the game, then you have to own some dock where you can insert the game (that dock/system has to be accessed to PC) and you have to download the right programs to mod your ROM file (I think that it's almost impossible to hack your cardridge or it isn't worth it). Many console modders just makes their life easier and download the ROM files from internet and that's illegal. Modding console games also needs usually homebrewed console which allows to mods be activated (luckily original DS/DS Lite have a little security and you don't have to download crazy homebrew installers). If I don't remember correctly it's not allowed to mod your console if you want to access internet services on that console so if you are ready to lose one feature on your console then you're ready to mod it. About modding DS games: I think that it have been break down several times in DS hacking/modding communities. I belive that those communities have some modding tools to just export all the files which that game includes. I'm pretty sure that there's no level editors or other fancy programs to LEGO Battles. Maybe if someone talented at coding is willing to take task to check how LB works it can make modding of that game way easier than now. Now the modding involves checking every file, how they interact and then making little changes around the code and hope that it won't break the game. @Lord Maplefrost If you are just interested to talk about LB then be brave and start conversation in Game Discussion I have played LB when I was child and I quite enjoyed it. To be honest that game have too many flaws which makes defence play more important than offence... But I like the themes and overall LEGO vibes around that game!1 point -

Hello and welcome to RRU! ? I think the major reason is that it's not immediately available. As someone without any consoles I've never had access to it - while I've been able to back-fill my collection of older PC Lego games I hadn't even considered Lego Battles. It took me many years to even become aware of its existence! It's also my understanding that modding consoles is infinitely more difficult than modding PC games. LRR has the largest section a) because it's a very good game but also b) it's extremely easy to mod [1) unpack WAD files; 2) go ahead and edit, even in Notepad (not reccomended, but possible) 3) recompile!] I'd be totally happy to be proven wrong though! I say this with minimal knowledge on Lego Battles other than it existed.1 point -
My favorite LR1 and LR2 custom cars (+render)
Unit G17 reacted to dy_enforcer for a topic
Nice builds. These red, white and blue colors reminded me of the one I made 2 years ago. Also, not sure if you look into it, but did you know you can add extra colored bricks without ever changing some of them? This is why you see my custom Rob'N'Hood and Pharoah's Mummy cars have colors that you don't see in the game. Very useful if you want to make custom cars with different colors. http://www.rockraidersunited.com/topic/4886-additional-brick-colors-mod/1 point -
More Critters!
ShadowDraikana reacted to aidenpons for a topic
I re-textured the Scorpion and reduplicated its stuff so I now have the Purple Scorpion and Green Scorpion! Additionally, in the Scorpion folder there were also textures for a Small Scorpion which.... let's be real, looks pretty bad. If you wanted a smaller scorpion just grab the red one and change its Scale to something like 0.6. Currently the AI just wanders round and scares raiders. You can zap them with lasers or with RR weapons. The patch also puts them in the .ol for Driller Night so you can see them all there. Spiders, Snakes, and the original Red scorpion are already incorporated into this here. Download! (Cafeteria patch. If you want a manual installation just unpack it and follow the instructions in script.txt, which tell you what needs to go where.) Future Work: - incorporating the aggressive Rock Monster AI into them - making emerge and crumble animations (they currently vanish into a cloud of dust) now that I have Lightwave - fixing how the scorpions essentially glow-in-the-dark (see the green one on the left in the screenshot). Technical Notes if somebody wants to do something similar: LRR's textures are handled as "Indexed" textures, which means that instead of saving RGB values, it saves a palette, and then every pixel refers to this palette. (Not immediately related, but transparency is handled by putting A###_restoffilename.bmp, where ### refers to the index of the colour you want to be transparent). This means that if you open a texture in Paint edit it, save it, it will crash as Paint only saves RGB textures. Fortunately GIMP can do all of this fine. Load it up, and then if you want to edit the colours, Image -> Mode -> RGB. Edit away (I mostly used the Colorize tool, under Colors -> Colorize), and then when you're done change it back to Image->Mode->Indexed (let it auto-generate a palette), and then export as a BMP. On the Export screen, expand the Compatibility box, and tick Do not write Color Space Information. The image will work if that box is left unticked but it will look silly). Tada, your image has been put into an LRR format succesfully! @Cyrem, when are you going to re-release a version of Cafeteria that actually works and doesn't duplicate stuff? EDIT: IT'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK coming soon to a non-forgotten overhaul near you1 point -
