-Overview- LEGO Universe utilizes encrypted .fsb sound banks to store the music, so our job here is to decrypt then convert them to something more usable. Also, since I'm no sound engineer, I have no idea how to gauge the quality of the extracted audio, just so you know. -Part 1: Preparation- 1. First, locate LUs music folder; if you still have the game installed it should be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Software\LEGO Universe\client\res\audio\ndaudio\music If you do not currently have LU installed, Windows 10 WILL NOT let you install it, but you can download a client from online; more information here. 2. Copy the "music" folder to your desktop. 3. Now we need our magic piece of software, in the form of "Music Player Ex": http://jerome.jouvie.free.fr/musicplayer/index.php -Note: make sure it's the 7-zip one. If you don't have it already, you'll need 7-zip to extract Music Player Ex: https://www.7-zip.org/ 4. Extract the Music Player Ex .7z file to the desktop. We're now all set up, so let's get started. -Part 2: Extraction- In this example we'll extract the music for Avant Gardens. 1. Inside the newly extracted Music Player Ex folder, find and double-click "MusicPlayerEx.exe". 2. Now open the "music\music_global" folder and drag "music_global_avant_gardens_streaming.fsb" into the empty space of Music Player Ex (or click the open button to the left of the play button). 3. Right-click the file and select "Music password". 4. In the field, type (without the quotes) "1024442297" and press "OK". -Note: you have to do this each time you open the .fsb files, although there is a way to permanently decrypt them (see the "Side Note" section at the end). 5. Click play to populate the list; you can now listen to the music just like this, or you can convert it to something more user friendly. 6. To convert, right-click the file you wish to export*, click "Convert", select the output format and directory, and then "Convert". *you can select multiple files by holding "ctrl", or to grab them all, select the first file, scroll to the bottom, then hold "shift" and click the last file. 7. Click "OK" when the conversion has completed, and that's it! 8. If you want to open more .fsb files, first right-click any file in the field and select "Remove all" and then "OK". 9. Rinse and repeat for any of the other files. -Side Note- Different releases of LU use different passwords for the music (though it's the same for each file in the same release): Alpha: 1994246297 Beta: ?????????? Final: 1024442297 I used a program called "guessfsb" to obtain the passwords; you can check it out here: https://hcs64.com/vgm_ripping.html It also comes with a decryption utility that you can use to permanently decrypt the files (note that both use the command line to operate).
