    Vector Raiders

Vector Raiders Vector Raiders is an overhaul mod I am working on for LEGO Rock Raiders. It's primary aims are to re-texture the entire game in a simple vector style, and to replace all the levels in the game with new ones. I may also look into other areas of modification, such as monsters, and plan on creating new music too. So far I have nearly finished texturing the Rock biome, and created a draft for the first level, with some voice acting. There are some things that need looking over, for instance the Power Paths are too simple and I have used square Power Paths in place of round ones for the time being. Additionally I'd like to re-record my voice for Chief, and go over the first level's design again (I somehow muddled up the voices and objective). You can watch a preview of the first level below. http://youtu.be/RhHHA2UYdr0 [Dead] My apologies that the GUI flickers, I'll try and fix that for the next recording. Also, that voice sounds nothing like me, I don't know what type of voice I was putting on... Also, here's a little voice test I did for Chief. Chief Voice Test [Dead] Stay tuned for updates! Medium Transport Truck

Well I took all your suggestions into account, and present version two of the Medium Transport Truck. It's still not perfect but it's a whole lot better. >Now significantly lager than small transport truck >More room for cargo >Redid wheels to allow for suspension, should work if I had rubber bands in LDD.... >Lighter grey added to color scheme >Added saws >Redid front, looks better now >Simpler undercarriage, no more unnecessary fluff. EDIT: due to having the same file name, dropbox replaced this version's file with the slightly altered version, found below.

LDRAW and LDD to DXF, SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor

Hello, I wanted to share with this group a couple of small translators I've written. They can read LDRAW (.dat) and LDD (.g) files and translate them to DXF, SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor. Each is final application is a separate app. With the help of bartvbl I've been able to include the ability to now read .g files from LDD where before I couldn't and it's important to credit him with all the work on reading the binary file format. There are a few current limitations. First is .g files where a brick would have any variants with decorations. Like bartvbl's viewer, there will be faces missing in these cases. Still working on figuring out some stuff from the children files associated with them (.g1, .g2, etc.) Second, the Autodesk Inventor translator is quite slow with larger brick files. Unfortunately the Inventor API requires a lot of object references to just create a face in 3D. Granted I'm comparing this to the SolidWorks API that requires a single API call for each face. Also, Inventor's merge surface option currently doesn't produce any different results when checked or unchecked. I've submitted this to their API Development group and they've opened a support request as they're seeing the same issue. In both cases (SolidWorks and Inventor) the documentation for creating BREP geometry directly is not documented very well, as I don't think it's common in a parametric design tool (where features, not faces are build one at a time). I also wanted to share this on the LDRAW forums, as this is where the original request for SolidWorks and Inventor translators came from. However, I have tried repeatedly to log in and request password changes, etc. with little luck. Anyway, here is a video showing how the different translators work. http://youtu.be/PIb53rd_DGk

    LMS - Lrr Modding System

UPDATE: Version 0.1.2 has been released. I'm an idiot and never noticed the code to add d3drm.dll was broken. I'm planing on making a unified modding system for LRR. It's going to be an all-purpose launcher, patcher/mod installer, wad manager, etc. It's going to be written in python, frozen with py2exe for usability. The source and download will be on github. Patchman scripts will be supported. CFG mods will be managed with diff and patch (if I can get it working). If people want, I will even make sure you can play custom music with it. I'll start it out as a launcher, then add modules to it as I go. Anyone who knows python is encouraged to help. Links and updates will be posted here. Current features: Game launching Automatic color depth changing Wad priming Automatic adding of d3drm.dll Telling you off for trying to mod in Program Files Source: GithubDownload: LMS V0.1.2 Currently planned: Launcher Wad management (Priming, manual de/recompiling) Mod management with conflict detection Mod patching (maps, models, animations, etc) CFG patching (if it would quit being stupid) CFG checking Overhaul mode Registry based settings (new) Alternate installer functionality (the disk is obviously required)(new) Possible future additions: Map making and npl scripting In-game custom music playing ??? Medium Transport Truck

This went through a couple versions before I settled on a final design. Version 1 (original OP): Version 2: Version 2.1: Final version (2.2):

    Medium Transport Truck

Version 2.1 it is, then! >Altered color scheme, less black >Replaced saws with lasers because lasers are sexier than saws >Redid front yet again because it was bothering me >Part choice slightly altered to fit new color scheme >Added blocks to restrict the movement of wheels so they don't implode LXF file

    Medium Transport Truck

Very interesting, I like it. However I agree that, for an increase in size, it should probably be able to hold more cargo. The newer pieces certainly give it a more 'LEGO Rock Raiders - Revitalised' look, which in this case works well. I think you've balanced it out nicely too, it's got bulk but it's not too much. Other than the storage capacity, my only other suggestion is to throw in some light grey in there, just as much of the LEGO Rock Raiders sets did. Personally I'd start with the cockpit and back bucket, and move on from there.

    Medium Transport Truck

I believe they're called LXF files. On the truck itself, it's not really that much of a Medium Transport Truck.... apart from the tools and the 2 seats it still holds the same cargo... Still, I just might be being fussy. The front of the truck looks great. And a good use of that 2-seater piece thingy. (Funny, I've never seen that piece except in two sets). The little ladders on the side are also quite nice. The back looks a little big for only one bucket. Aesthetics aside,I think you could have lowered that quite a bit. Still, the aesthetics of height are important. Can it hold any other cargo on the back? Could you perhaps replace some of the middle bricks for a safe to hold another Energy Crystal? Hmm.. If I'm thinking what you're thinking it'd be very blocky. (What I'm thinking is the suspension system in this. It works like this, which is easily seen on the back wheel.) It would work, but it'd be very blocky and obtrusive to the aesthetics. I wouldn't recommend having any suspension with that size of vehicle, but I can see why you'd want it...) Also, finding space to actually put the elastic band stuff, without hitting the wheels or protruding from the front looks impossible. Despite this primarily negative criticism, I would be proud to have this in my RR fleet.

    LOCO on an iPad

Must have been done before, but I just found out that LOCO works with the new microsoft remote desktop app due to its glorious lack of a third dimension. And it runs wonderfully. So that's pretty awesome.
