LEGO Island 3 Gone Wild
aidenpons and 2 others reacted to le717 for a topic
O.T. I hope this goes here with the new categories and all... I was bored Saturday, so I attempted to do a let's play of the beginning of the horrible LEGO Island 3 Unity game. It failed, so I took the best clips and compiled them into a LEGO Island Gone Insane-style video: LEGO Island 3 Gone Wild. In case you did not get this earlier, I shall repeat: I made this because I was bored. That's better.3 points -

Regarding the downloads, I am considering re-enabling the attachment system. The reasons are: > Attachments can be managed by the user (There is a spot in the UCP for them) > They show the download count > I've made them look nicer e.g ('?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>) As a demo, attachments are now allowed in the Racers mod forums, for you to try. In addition topic ratings are now allowed for those mod forums.3 points -

The Ace Railgun and one other reacted to Jimbob for a topic
Okay, here are three suggestions. Don't know how feasible they are. Shoutbox History Currently you have to go into the archive of the shoutbox, set a time range, and scroll back through the pages to view its history. This is okay, but if someone accidentally breaks the shoutbox (e.g. posting a long line of characters) the page arrows disappear so you can't view history for that section any more. I guess either fixing this or just adding some kind of page buttons to the shoutbox itself would be nice. SWF Files I can see this being a big no-no already, but if you don't ask you'll never know, huh? It'd be nice if we could embed SWF files at a larger size than 300x150. I understand that perhaps people could abuse this, so maybe you could somehow limit it to members of a certain 'age' (as in based on join date)? For instance, it'd be great if the various 360 galleries I've made could be embedded. And the gallery in Fushigisaur's >LRR MOC Index (which I still haven't finished, I will make time for it Fushi) would be better off embedded in the topic rather than opened in a new tab. Competitions These are such brilliant ways of bringing the community together. I'm not just talking about the LEGO Racers tournament that took place last year, in fact I think that was flawed by the requirement for recording.* I mean MOC competitions, perhaps other gaming competitions, maybe even a modding competition? There are some old topics that were unearthed last year featuring LRR MOCs for some competition that was held a long time ago. The models produced are fantastic, and very imaginative/inspiring. So competitions not only have short-term benefit in the form of enjoyment for competitors/'spectators', but also benefit in the long term with the products left behind. Well, there we go. My thoughts. *Now that we can >record ghost paths, this can be revamped!2 points -
Retro LEGO Comics/Storybooks/Animated Cartoons General Discussion
Alex2000 reacted to Sadie Meowsalot for a topic
Originally this topic was geared towards the discussion of the mid-80s LEGO Publishing Classic Space comic book series, Jim Spaceborn, but it's since expanded from its roots to encompass retro LEGO comics, storybooks, animated cartoons, and the like in general. I'm however retaining the original contents of the OP below to serve as this topic's initial subject of discussion and to maintain the flow of the topic. For the uninitiated, Jim Spaceborn was a Classic Space oriented LEGO comic book series authored and illustrated by Frank Madsen , and developed and produced in collaboration with LEGO's short-lived publishing division, LEGO Publishing from 1983-1987. The series was initiated after the production of an internal prototype Classic Space book titled Trapped in Space in 1983(from which Jim Spaceborn would later draw a good deal of its inspiration and story elements), written by Douglas Hill and illustrated with photographs. However, the book was never published as LEGO later scrapped the children's book concept, and thus gave birth to the Jim Spaceborn comic book series. The series comprised of three 48-page installments and a series of three 24-page mini-comics, the third installment and the series of mini-comics, however, were never published. Development began with a white 12-page test album "Mission Spyspids", after which a second test album with imagery on 31 pages, and the vast majority of the rest of the album's pages being blank merely to give it the feeling of a final album was produced, this one carrying the name "Jan Spaceborn: Galaxens Hemmelighed". Though the name Jan was later changed to Jim subject to being deemed politically explosive. Both the test albums, unlike the final releases, were hardcover books rather than paperback. Finally, Jim Spacborn 1: The Unknown Galaxy was produced, and published in 6 countries. After which development of the series' second installment Jim Spaceborn 2: The Kidnappers From Swamp Planet/Castle of the Darkmen commenced and was published in 5 of the aforementioned six countries excluding Denmark. The unpublished third installment was titled Panic On Board of which I've uploaded layouts provided by Frank Madsen, and the 3 mini-comics titled The Monorail Service, Cleaning Robot, and The Competition. According to Erik Dyhr Thomsen, LEGO Publishing Product/Development Manager 1982-1988 LEGO Publishing was created by Keld Kirk Kristiansen, current owner of LEGO. His idea of LEGO Publishing was that they should use LEGO bricks in various media, such as books and movies. I've been in contact for a good while now with Frank Madsen among a whole host of others on the series' development team and generally people who collaborated on the project. Frank has been instrumental in the discovery of a lot of the aforementioned, having generously provided the images of the entirety of the contents of the 1983 internal prototype book Trapped in Space, the layouts for Jim Spaceborn 3, the entirety of the initial 10-page test album of The Unknown Galaxy, 1984 and 1987 Jim Spaceborn character model sheets, the original pages of The Unknown Galaxy, some covers and layouts from some of the 3 unpublished mini-comics, and much more to come, some of which I've yet to upload and will edit into the original post when they become available. He's also informed me that sometime in 1986 a Jim Spaceborn animated film was planned and produced in a Danish studio led by Jeffrey James Varab (a former Disney animator) and Jakob Stegelmen. Though development only reached the extent of a storyboard of the initial 10 minutes of the film. Soon after I contacted Jeffrey, and he told me that not only was a feature film based on the comics planned, but as well a series and video game. And if you have anything more to share with regard to Jim Spaceborn or any other retro LEGO comic or the like that hasn't been outlined or shared already please do so. Cafeteria 1.0 BETA 7 - Launcher & Mod Loader for LRR
Haozu reacted to Cyrem for a topic
Cafeteria! 1.0 BETA 7 Cafeteria is a Game Launcher and Mod Loader for LEGO Rock Raiders. It allows you to play LEGO Rock Raiders mods without manual installation and also allows you to configure the various parameters of LEGO Rock Raiders/LEGO Rock Raiders Community Edition. Installation - First, download the latest version of Cafeteria at the bottom of this post. - Extract Cafeteria and all its files into the installation directory of LEGO Rock Raiders. This is usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Media\Games\Rock Raiders - Your installation is finished. Whenever you want to play, start Cafeteria and launch the game through it instead. Requirements Most new computers already have these installed, however if you are missing one, you may get errors in the program. - .NET Framework 4.5 (Download) Installing Mods Mods come in files with the extension *.wadp. You can find mods in topics on this forum. To install a mod, simply place the WADP file inside the "Mods" directory or use the "Add Patch" button. You can confirm a mod has been installed and is valid by visiting the "Mod Manager" tab in Cafeteria where it will display. Ordering Mods Using the arrows on the interface you can move mods up and down. Mods at the end of the list are considered "low priority" and mods up the top are considered "high priority". Mods are installed in order from Low to High Priority. As some mods overlap others or must be applied after other mods, you can order them in the correct installation order. FAQ I heard this allows playing LRR in high resolutions? You did hear correctly. Old versions of Cafeteria did allow this, however this has since changed. Playing LRR in high resolution has now been moved to the Rock Raiders Community Edition project where it will be built into the game. How do I make my own Patches? Please see this topic: Patch Documentation for Cafeteria Changelog 1.0 BETA 7 Added "Addons" to Online Mod library for installing things like D3DRM. Fixed case sensitivity on CFG:Open Added Context Menu Items "Remove Patch" and "Open in File Explorer" Added "Create New Patch" under Tools. This will create a new patch with file structure under "Mods" and added it to the Mod list. 1.0 BETA 6 CFG:AddBlock will not duplicate an existing block. CFG:AddProperty will not duplicate an existing property, instead it will update an existing property. 1.0 BETA 5 Fixed encoding issues with languages other than English. 1.0 BETA 4 Renamed JMP command to CMP command Added new JMP command to simply jump to labels without compare. Added online library for mods (not much yet still adding) Mod description tooltips. Added patch log to see the last log of patch applications. MOC: Technic Spitfire WIP
aidenpons reacted to apemax for a topic
Hey all. This is the beginning of my latest LEGO project, A motorised Supermarine Spitfire. I'm going to try and pack as many functions into it as possible such as the rudder, elevator and ailerons all controlled from the cockpit, motorised engine (Also controlled from the cockpit) and working landing gear (Hopefully ). Here's my progress so far: As you can see I've done the very front section which also includes the engine. I still need to figure out how to attach the wings as well as how to do the landing gear. If anyone as any suggestions I'm all ears. I'll leave you with a few more pictures:1 point -

Idea for the awards: If a user has more than 12 awards, there should be a Show More button under the 12 awards display if people want to look at a users other awards without going to their profile to see them.1 point -

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update
Icerockman reacted to Fush for a topic
I've been pretty much ignoring the back-and-forth between aidenpons and McJiblets, I don't think all of aiden's ideas are stupid but they're not all good either, and that's all I have to say. Anyway, like the doctor said, we don't know what kind of game this will be yet. We are not really assuming it will be like the first game, rather, the only thing we can do at this point is say what needs to be improved about the first game so the new can hopefully be better.1 point
