Arthuriel
This is my latest creation. It has some flaws (e.g. the engines), but it was sometimes very hard to find the right pieces etc. Otherwise I chose this scale, because it was a challenge to build a smaller version which contains lot of details too. pieces: ~5000 to ~5300 bricks (depending on the version) building time: hmm, maybe 30 to 50 hours scale: not exactly 1:8 but very close to it (~1:8,25) (compared to my 1:1 scale version of the LMS Explorer, which is 975 studs long) construction program: LDD (but I have converted the model into ldr (MLCAD) and lcd (LeoCAD) files, too) dimensions: Length: 116 studs/ 91,36 cm/ 35,97 in. Width: 17 studs/ 13,49 cm/ 5,31 in. Height: 16 studs/ 12,70 cm/ 5,00 in. Picture (made in bluerender): Rotation Video (made with the bluerender rotation mode): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jI5mtplVLlk Older Render Pictures: Spoiler Wognif, Alcom Isst, Rennesis77 and 11 others

STUDZ
Yes, this is brilliant! Although I was expecting an actual micro scale... This is more like the Midi-scale Millenium Falcon and Imperial Star Destroyer. But still, great work!

Arthuriel
Thank you for your comments . A even smaller version would be interesting, too (e.g. 1:18 etc.). Hmm, how big would be the smallest model you could still recognize as the LMS Explorer ? *building a version with one or more bricks *
Lair
Hmm, how big would be the smallest model you could still recognize as the LMS Explorer ? *building a version with one or more bricks * I built a 1:16 model. Can't find it atm, but I'll get the pictures if you want me to.
Arthuriel
Do you the mean the ship from this thread?: http://www.rockraide...lms-mini-model/ The brickshelf link is brocken there but I have found your model on Lego Universe. Maybe you could upload it here again, please. PS: When I compared my 1:1 model and your 1:16 model I discovered that your version is a exact 1:9 version (975 studs / 138 studs = 9 (1:9 scale)). Aidan3106
There needs to be a Lego set for this LMS Explorer.
Lair
There needs to be a Lego set for this LMS Explorer. How about not? Maybe for a mini version like this, but a full version would be over 25 feet long. Alcom Isst
-Elite-
That looks great! Lots of really fine details were put into that model!
BobaFett2
Not bad. Too bad Mark Kelso isn't (that) interested in Rock Raiders (or hasn't shown any interest).
Arthuriel
I already posted it in the shoutbox, but I will do it here again: Some days ago I decided to upload the 1:8 LMS Explorer model in Lego Cuusoo. I wasn't very sure, if it would ever pass the review stage (afaik Lego Cuusoo checks the model, after it has been uploaded and then they publish or don't publish it), because it's an old theme (although there was never a set of this ship and I wrote in the description, that it would be more like a collectors model for fans of Lego Rock Raiders). Well.. ...today they made it available for voting. I'm speechless, because I haven't expected it. Maybe it will get 10.000 votes and even pass the review. Time will show, what will happen. Here is the link of the 1:8 model: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/38716
Jimbob
Congratulations! You have my support, I priced it the same as the Taj Mahal as it's a little smaller but obviously a CUUSOO project rather than a LEGO product line. It's a great model and I truly hope you get 10,000 votes.

Arthuriel
Ah, NTEP Scales, now I've found a reason to live . back to the 1:8 model: Somehow this whole LDD to POV-Ray converting thing doesn't work at all. Therefore I had to check the paths etc., but in the mean time I've found a dat-file from the 1.0 version, which I opened in LDView. After that I exported it to POV-Ray and got this render here:
Jimbob
Wow, ith tho bweautiful! I really hope it exponentially excels on CUUSOO. That must have taken ages to render, although it may have looked better rendered with a transparent background and instead placed in space.
