Mine would just have to be Lego Island 2. The writing, voice acting, music and gameplay are just.... phenomenal.

Hah. I'm kidding.

Anyway, my actual favorite game would be MYST. I can't limit myself to just one game in the series, either. They're all so awesome! The plot is incredible, the immersion/atmosphere is amazing, this game is so FRIGGENAMAHZING.

My top five is:

1. MYST  2. LittleBigPlanet 2  3. Bioshock  4. SimCity 4  and 5. Portal 2

So, anyone else?

(If anyone cares, I edited this. #3 was Sims 3 and #4 was Uncharted 3)

For me (top 10):

10. Metal Drift

9. SimCity 4 (a recent addition, since I enjoy the micromanaging aspect)

8. Minecraft

7. Portal 2

6. Team Fortress 2

5. Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 2

4. M.U.G.E.N.

3. Garry's Mod

2. Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony (Warning: Danmaku shoot-em-ups tend to be difficult)

1. Evochron Mercenary (I'm a big fan of simulator games)

I'm more of a vintage gamer. My faves were all made a while ago...

But, if we're talking about MODERN games, I'd say (in no particular order):

The Portal series

Team Fortress 2

Minecraft

Kingdom Hearts II (the others are fine, but II was the masterpiece)

For old video games:

LEGO Island

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo-Tooie

GoldenEye

More that I can't remember ATM

Yes. Because they're totally one game.

1) Fallout 3 (even better with FWE, Fellout, and Fook2 installed)

2) Borderlands 2

3) Dragon Age: Origins

4) Fallout 2

5) Entire Mass Effect Series

I love how no one is taking this topic seriously any more

My game is undoubtedly my favorite game of all time.

After that, these are some of the games I like. The order changes up occasionally, and I can't add up all games at once. So it's my most liked out of all that come to mind at the moment and my mood.

6. Age of Empires 2: The conquerors.

5. Civ 2

- Civ 5

4. The Tropico Series

- Sim City 2000 and sim city 4 Deluxe

3. Minecraft

2. Rock Raiders

1. Dwarf Fortress

Above all: My game.

Yes, many have not come to mind at this moment. Whatever. My game is ALWAYS the best. DF generally remains in second place to main game.

Seriously? Sonic Robo Blast 1 was better! You gotta love those choppy animations and sudden screen shifts, as well as the art style.

Indeed. Really, sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

This was a difficult decision. So many games, so many good experiences. I don't think anyone will be too surprised. So, the top 20 that really rubbed me the right way (Sometimes I have picked an entire series because they are inseparable, others I have chosen one outstanding title):

20. Saint's Row The Third

19. The Sims 2 (With all expansion/stuff packs)

18. Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis

17. Freespace 2

16. Garry's Mod

15. Portal Series

14. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

13. F.E.A.R.

12. Mass Effect Trilogy

11. Deus Ex Series

10. Grand Theft Auto Series

9. Dishonoured

8. BioShock Series

7. Assassin's Creed Series

6. Halo 2/Halo 3: ODST

5. Need for Speed: Most Wanted

4. Sam & Max Franchise (Including Hit the Road and TellTale Games seasons 1-3)

3. Mirror's Edge

2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

1. Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal

So, this was really difficult and as I keep looking over it I constantly want to tweak the list as I remember more games I liked, such as the Half-Life/Black Mesa and Left 4 Dead games. Also, some games deserve special mention:

  • BioShock deserves a medal for the most artistic game, and one of the best plot-twists in gaming ever, with Dishonoured coming in a close second.
  • KotORII deserves a medal for the best 2 characters in gaming; Kreia and HK-47.
  • Sam & Max deserves a medal for the best Point-and-click Adventure Game still alive.
  • BioShock, KotORII, Dishonoured, the Deus Ex games, the Assassin's Creed games and the Mass Effect Trilogy all deserve an award for the deepest, most meaningful and best writing, with GTA IV and Halo 2 just missing out, and R&C3, the Sam & Max games and Portal deserve an award for the funniest writing, with Saints Row just missing out. However, with exception to NFSMW

There are other games which deserves special medals, but I'm pretty tired so I can't do it. However, I want to say that ALL of the games had amazing soundtracks, including some of the best and most played songs on my iPod.

Also, above, I don't like Sonic games because even in the good ones, all you do is roll either to the right or left and occasionally press jump, which is more like a casual game, and thus not really a "serious" game to me. I understand some people find some non-serious games more entertaining, but I don't.

You haven't played Borderlands 2. The writing in the game was f****ing hilarious.

That's a money problem. Haven't had enough to buy all the new releases. I wanted to try out Hitman but that was out of the question on an empty wallet.

Alright, let's see if I can do this right.

10: L.A. Noire

Incredibly detailed and immersive, and the character models look like they're lifted right out of real life. Incredible

9. inFamous

Whenever I play this game, I can't help but feel like Sucker Punch put a little of Sly Cooper in there, especially in the climbing and platform mechanics.

Aside from that, great story, great gameplay, great look. Just all-around great

8. LEGO Rock Raiders

Oozes charm and is, above all, a nostalgic treasure for me. I'm certain it will move up a few spots once I've gotten it in working order again and installed a mod "overhaul" I've set my sight on

7. Star Wars: Battlefront II

Best. Shooter. Ever. That simple

6. Jak II

Immersive, huge, really hard. But in the end totally worth it. It's almost a bit revolutionary in a sense, if you compare it to the original

5. Sly 2: Band of Thieves

Simultaneously the darkest and most fun entry in the series. I've always enjoyed platformers, and I'm no stranger to playstation's "big three" within the genre (as you'll see in a moment). And Sly's combination of platforming mixed with stealth and puzzles still managed to be fun after all these years. A lot of modern games can't say the same.

4. KotOR II: The Sith Lords

I most certainly enjoyed the original KotOR as well, but I found the darker story, coupled with some updated gameplay elements and increased breadth, of the sequel to be all the more immersive, and therefore more enjoyable. Shame about all the cut content, though. Ah, well, that's what patches are for  :satisfied:

3. Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time

As someone who's been a long-time fan of the R&C franchise, I found that I got everything I ever wanted in the Future trilogy, especially ACiT. It pulled off the classic formula to perfection, and on top of that had a slightly more adult edge to it that managed to keep my interest even as I grew older. The Future trilogy was R&C's crowning achievement, and ACiT was the cherry on top.

If only Insomniac would listen to their fans and drop the multiplayer bulls***

2. Bastion

Bastion intrigued me ever since I first discovered it. On a hunch, I coughed up the money and started playing, never regretted it. The gameplay is fun, the story's immersive, the visuals and music are absolutely breathtaking, and all this while still remaining beautifully simple in its near-perfect execution.

1. Age of Empires II

There are some games out there that just suck you into their simple genius and assure that whenever you enter their realm you will never stop feeling like a little kid again. For me, that game is Age of Empires II

Never before had I ever thought a strategy game could be so action-packed, and just straight-up fun. It's a hugely popular game with a big legacy, and thousands of dedicated fans all over the world that never let down in their relentless love for the defining RTS to end all RTS games.

I'll see you on the zone, age2players, and my arrows will blot out the sun  :ilaser:

I'm not sure I can put them in order, but my favourite games are probably...

  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Dawn of War: Soulstorm
  • LittleBigPlanet 2
  • Minecraft
  • VANQUISH

Batman: Arkham City I enjoy as I love the whole Batman universe (I generally ignore the rest of DC and am not in favour Marvel), and it is such a well-designed game. I like playing both the story and the challenges.

Dawn of War: Soulstorm is a favourite because I am a bit of a Warhammer 40k fan, and the ability to bring my armies to life is great. Plus online is good fun.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is just... Brilliant. The way I can unleash my imagination into a game and create my own levels and games is fantastic. The characters are adorable too, and I particularly love building the technical side of levels. I've made some creations with layers upon layers of microchips stacked into each other, intricately enough that I forget what everything does :P

I'm sure most people know about the attraction Minecraft has to its players so I won't go on about that. I just like to build and play with friends.

VANQUISH has to be my all-time favourite shooter game. The fast-paced action, the slowing-down of time to take awesome mid-air sniper shots, the adrenaline rush... I love it. I think it was the first game I got a platinum on, actually.

In no particular order:

  • Star Wars: Battlefront II
I have more hours logged in this game than pretty much any other.  I estimate over my life, I have a few weeks spent playing that game total... which is a lot.
  • Lego Star Wars 2
It's fun and you can play it while stoned on a combination of the common flu and motrin (dispensed by a parent to take care of the splitting headache it did nothing to help).
  • Kerbal Space Program
Why do I like this game? 268ddfe60cf4d6fd615e988aeb50843b.png
  • DOOM
    Its a classic.
  • Antichamber
Very noneuclidean, which is not common in a game.  Its also a lot of fun.

Although I didn't add it to my favourites list, I do love this game. It is certainly my favourite Star Wars game, and every so often I whip it out and play it for hours. I tried the online mode once recently but was pulverised by the players... They're clearly a lot harder than the Elite difficulty. I'm glad there's someone else out there who still enjoys this :)
