lol username
LEGO news has been quite slow lately, but thankfully we have something today. Publisher Dorling Kindersley (DK) has announced their 2013 lineup of LEGO books, and there's some interesting stuff. LEGO Minifigure Year by Year: A Visual Chronicle A visual guide showing more than 1,500 LEGO minifigures, from 1978 to present day, also including three of its own (though it is unconfirmed if they are exclusive or not). Hopefully this will turn out better than the mess that is Standing Small. Coming in October. LEGO Minifigures Character Encyclopedia This is basically high-quality pictures of the collectible blind-bag minifigures, their biographies from LEGO.com, and other assorted tidbits of information compiled into a book. But hey, it comes with an exclusive Toy Soldier minifigure! Coming in August. The LEGO Play Book A book containing instructions for over 200 different models in a variety of themes, as well as tips, tricks, and general inspiration. Coming in September. LEGO Legends of Chima Brickmaster: The Quest for Chi Standard Brickmaster book, contains a bunch of pieces, some stories, and pieces and instructions for models associated with the stories. Coming in May. LEGO Star Wars Brickmaster: Battle for the Stolen Crystals Another Brickmaster book/set, this time Star Wars themed. According to the blurb in the teaser, it apparently is about Clone Commander Gree trying to recover stolen lightsaber crystals from a Commando Droid, but as I don't follow Star Wars I have no idea who those two are. Well, it includes minifigures of them, that's cool. Coming a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Actually, September. There's also an assortment of sticker books based on general minifigures, Hero Factory, Friends, and Legends of Chima, but... Well, they're stickers. There's really nothing else to say. Cyrem
DK pumps out LEGO books like no-tomorrow. They also generally have a number of errors in them. For minifigures, I've found the The Unofficial LEGO Minifigure Catalog to be better than all other books I've found. Lair
lol username
They also generally have a number of errors in them. Oh, don't get me started on Standing Small... That book is just plain sloppy, too many errors to count. Lair

I once made a list of errors (which ended up pretty large) and posted it on Brickipedia in a blog post. It got tons of comments pointing out even more errors, mainly on licensed figures (which I don't know nearly as much about). I was just dumbfounded at how LEGO gave the green light to such a thing.
