Why I Don't Like Google Or Apple

Alright. While chatting I got into a little "argument" with the member who is currently know as Rainbow Dash (I can't wait until that fad blows over, it's driving me insane!) about Google.

To basically state my position, it's not that I don't like Google's software, but I can't respect a company that can influence the world economy like that.

As for Apple, they steal software and digital media. OSX 10.x is a re-skin of FreeBSD 4.2, a now outdated OS based on Unix, and lot of songs on iTunes are sold without paying royalties.

Well I dislike both of those companies for different reasons. Google because of: Cloud OS . Apple because of: Making old technology look like it's the lastest and greatest... then over-charging for it. They say they will not support Flash because it's not open source... yet everything Apple makes is not open source. Apple thinks a Mac/PC are different.... when a Mac is a PC. Mac won't allow it's OS on non-Mac computers, yet they support WIndows on their systems... and a whole long list of stuff I hate about Apple.

I agree with both of you on Google, I'm wanting to disagree on some the Apple bits because I can't imagine my uncle Joe, who is the head programmer of OSX, stealing parts of some Linux distro, but OSX is basically Unix so I can understand where there are similarities. Cyrem is completely right about Apple. Though they used to be good innovators, now all computers are running on the same standard (usually Intel) hardware and they're still charging way more than they should.

Here's a great example: My Asus laptop is a quad-core 2.0 GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA 1GB GPU, 15.6" widescreen, 3 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 port, brushed aluminum beast. Both of my brothers just bought the new Macbook Pros, which are about quad-core 2.3 GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, maybe some GPU, 13" widescreen, 2 USB 2.0 ports, aluminum box. Even with the discount they got by having our uncle buy them as a middleman, they were still about 12-1300 dollars. Yes, in terms of performance mine is slightly worse because the model is half a year older, but I wouldn't pay an extra $400 for a slightly better processor and extra RAM, especially when the screen size and number of USB ports is dropped. And once other products start supporting USB 3.0, I'll be ready to use them. My brothers won't. Where's your innovation now, Apple?

Since Leopard, OSX has been deviating from being just a re-skin to being an evolution of the FreeBSD platform (which is actually a different platform from Linux), but the similarities are still there.

The price difference for similar equipment is another issue I have, but not the biggest.

Also, I find it hard to understand how the older PowerPC platform is innovative... Wasn't it IBM's idea?

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but

It is not a fad just because a lot of people like it. also have you ever actually WATCHED My Little Pony? If you had you would not have posted that.
It really isn't a 'fad'. It is a great show

Also, season 2 is coming out sometime this year, so expect even more of it.

Defensive simply because I said something you didn't like? Or because I make my own decisions about things?

I just personally see it as a fad. Things like that don't last.

Both I guess. (It's not that I didn't like it, just disagreeing). Though it will probably dimmer out a bit in a few years. Usually when I like something a lot, I stick with liking it and never stop liking it.

Hey 40K, I hate bronies too. I've actually watched that show, and let me tell you, it is one of the stupidest shows in the world.

I don't really care about differences of interests. Someone being into something that isn't mainstream doesn't make them less of a person.

Personally I'm into some of Game's Workshop's games, like Warhammer 40,000 and Battle Fleet Gothic, and although there is a large international community for those games it's mainly based in Europe and Brittan.
