Fluffy Cupcake
As I started to leave, Sonic and Mouse were having an argument about getting a new map for 1.8. Sonic lost, and was banned, so Acmex burned down his idol and partied. I left at this time era. Thanks for informing me on everything that happened afterwards. Lair
Fine. Have your "awesome rock raiders" all to yourself. I'm not coming back this time. Why thank you, we certainly will. See you in a week!
Sonic322
So now that we have that out of the way, does anyone want to hear about my RRU City plan?
aLPHA
Meh. I'll be away from this server until 1.8 because it has nothing to offer. IT SURE IS BORING AROUND HERE. I've been messing with alot of mods, most bukkit compatible, that I'd like to see put onto the server. They don't add any unfairness, in fact, they actually make minecraft more fun. Unfortunately, 90% of these mods all require a client-side mod installed so pretend I never said anything about any super awesome mods. An awesome mod I found (no bukkit) is called industrialcraft. It adds over 100 new blocks and items to make minecraft more focused on base making and mineral refining/mining. Another mod is buildcraft. It adds self-building buildings and pipes. When paired with industrial craft, I can do fantastic things. I made a machine that automatically creates advanced alloy.

I am okay with some mods that add a new item/block or two but I don't think mods that at that many new things is a good idea for the server. I mean when 1.8 comes out then we will have so much more to work with anyways. You know a majority of the people on the server have no limit to how much they will do right? I mean I was looking over the mod and this little quote really jumped out at me: "A Nuclear explosion is extremely destructive.". Now I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to risk that. need what? He is talking about the machine.
aLPHA
But Industrialcraft is for a vanilla server host...not bukkit. Besides, if you wanted to play on the server, you'd have to install a whole collection of mods. I never said I wanted industrialcraft on RRU Stuff. Besides, if you wanted to play on the server, you'd have to install a whole collection of mods. I never said I wanted industrialcraft on RRU Stuff. Oh... well good, I wouldn't want someone like... you building your giant buildings with nuclear reactors underneath it. One minute I would look at it and the next minute it would be gone. Does having Bukkit really make it so you can't use any other game mod? Because if so then that would suck not being able to use any of the super fun mods some people make. I can't wait for Mojang to release their API so we can drop Bukkit and get that. At least that is what I assume is planned to happen at that point. I mean when I look at the part of the Minecraft wiki that says: Modding API Official modding support, with full, unobfuscated source code, for free. Then I think, "Wow, Minecraft will have an API that will be fully and completely compatible with the game. I bet people will be flooding the site to port and refine their plugins from other APIs to the Minecraft API and using the source code to make even cooler/stable plugins. It sounds like you would have to be stupid not to switch over to it." But you know, that's just me. I am sure Anon or MSSSSM have a plan or two on what to do at that point. Addictgamer
All the minecraft API is is minecraft's source code released, unobfuscated, to the public (modders). They ain't making a whole new server or anything. Not downplaying or anything, just letting you know what it actually is. As a matter of fact, we pretty much have minecraft's source right now. Otherwise there'd be no mods at all. The main benefit of the API. Wait, no; API is a bad name for it. The main benefit of the actual source code is the actual source code has all the proper variable and function names, plus all the code is commented. And cleaner, too. Makes the code easier to read, and there's no waiting for the coder pack to be updated after every release.

So as far as everyone knows, they are not planning to make something like Bukkit to handle, support, and run the plugins that are going to be made? Well that is just silly. Addictgamer
That's right. They were going to, hence the name "modding API", but they couldn't decide on anything they liked, so they decided to release the source code instead. As you can see, they never changed the name to reflect this.

They can put a new folder in the MPS folder and the .minecraft folder that you can put plugins in and change there settings so you can put mods in like before but you can also put in plugins like you have Bukkit or something. Addictgamer
This plugin system you speak of is known as "modloader". That's essentially what it is. That's all I have to say on the plugin issue.

One minute I would look at it and the next minute it would be gone. I had this happen. I was away setting up a miner, and I heard a large BOOM. I turned around, and my base was nothing but a crater. Lol, I was really mad, so I ragedeleted that map. You can prevent nuclear explosions by encasing the reactor in an obsidian or reinforced stone box and use reinforced stone doors to get in/out. Then fill the whole entire thing with water, and have one reactor for refining uranium, and one for actually using it. I have been playing with my LAN bukkit server and the plugin system works by injecting data from zip files (disguised as Jar files) into the server jar file. 'Nough said. Saying it's "not bukkit", and bukkit being a server mod, then one would naturally assume you're trying to pursade Anon to install it into the server. That's the wrong quote, whatever. Sonic322
I don't think it would be a good idea to put something like that in anyways. I'm not saying I don't trust people but if you get enough materials to make a nuclear reactor then it would make an amazing griefing device. And looking at the amount of work some of the people on the server do then it wouldn't take long for that to happen.
aLPHA
There is a server for industrialcraft. You have to pay $10 to get in.

TheDoctor
zip files (disguised as Jar files) Jar files use zip compression. Anywho, I'm up for something crazy complicated, as long as there's documentation on everything (like the minecraft wiki). Not like it's going to make its way to the server, because mouse and ms don't like mods that need client mods. We tried the planes mod on an Acmex server, and takua crashed every time we made a special part because he didn't install the mod right.
TheEPICtrainrider
So um. Irene is totally about to take over my area, meaning the possibility of a power outage is VERY likely. So if 1.8 comes out in the next few days, sorry guys, map an't gonna get done by me. Acmex, if you read this, I give you FULL Permission on locating a Tundra Biome if we get a new map. Set up a 1 track railway if it's too far away (only if it's 1,000+ units away from the furthest building at spawn) Get the town going, I'll tie up the loose ends if I get power back. Hopefully everything will be fine and I'll be on the computer after Irene as finished ruffling up the neighborhood.
aLPHA
find the biggest tundra biome, and if you find one with a huge mountain, you could put the observation tower on that, for tourism.
Sonic322
Everyone shut up and listen to me right now. This video was shot by Mojang AB at PAX. If you have any questions about 1.8 then you need to watch this video because it will explain everything. So get to watching it because this video will have a lot of influence on how we start up and play the 1.8 server. And can someone get Anon and the other people in charge into this topic to see it. I mean if they don't see this video then they won't know what the heck is going on after 1.8 and that's just plain stupid of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGQx4QEi3DU
TheEPICtrainrider
Sure sonic. I get hit by a hurricane, but nooo, the map is more important. Anyway, Irene seams to not have as much thunder as we thought. Not calling it yet, but it's likely the power is still working.
TheDoctor
Irene is silly and I will be/was in Florida for the entire time that it's around my area so hah. I killed the video when i saw 51 minutes. I prefer diving in and not knowing whats going on. Now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to hop on over to the minecraft wiki and see if it was updated with the stuff from that video that I don't care to watch for a whole bloody hour.
