Quisoves Potoo
A great whale, rollicking with mysterious mirth, its front fins upon its belly, was first among the statues that greeted Count Benzoino del Papavero IX as he entered the ebony dancing hall. As he crossed the room, to the exit at the other end, he could hear a voice echoing down the adjacent hallway. As he drew closer, he recognized it as that of his friend, Count Ernesto de Xirono. The words, belonging as they did to that venerable tome “The Moonlit Dance of the Mad Sir Belvedere Resin,” took on an almost delirious quality, when heard in that room, filled with a plethora of fanciful decorations. Each statue was an animal, either real or imaginary, engaged in some distinctly human act of merriment. The walls were engraved with depictions of ants and bees at festival in their respective colonies.Papavero left the hall, advancing down the white, marble corridor, hung with multi-colored ribbons and fragrant garlands. The words came ever clearer.“Twixt a grove of pleasant poplars came the anguished cry of dread. For he saw a maiden radiant, rivaling Endymion’s mistress for beauty and for strangeness. Her skin was gossamer, her eyes black pearls, and her mouth a bloody ‘o.’ Whether to flee madly or kiss her wildly, he knew not. Transfixed was he, a statue removed from the realm of man’s artifices. With slow, spectral care she put a finger to her lips, then-“The eerie recitation stopped abruptly. So sudden was it that Papavero, too, halted. He waited for a cough or a yawn, but nothing came. For a terrible minute, he approached Xirono’s bedchamber, his mind a horrific imbroglio. As he entered the room, his color drained, his worst fears confirmed. Slumped on his bed, a look of troubled confusion on his face, was the body of his friend, a dagger in his forehead. The Count had scarcely regained his breath, when it left him permanently. * * * The next morn, the seven survivors beheld the terrible scene. Sadly, silently, they left for the Grand Hall, their appointed meeting place. Another sight, more common yet quite unwelcome, awaited them there. In contrast to the great jade room, painted in red wine upon the back wall, was the unmistakable image of a rose skewered by a rapier. Two of their number had declared Guerra Segreta. Ben24X7 killed by plot contrivance. Xiron, Innocent, killed by the Mafia. Day One begins You have 32 hours to vote on whom you wish to hang. Mesmerist, please send me your target. My apologies for the late scene. Edited July 11, 2015 by Quisoves Potoo
Jimbob
Jimbob uttered a handful of words, spoken calmly yet with a hint of melancholy. "I believe I speak on behalf of us all when I request a solid recounting of everyone's whereabouts this past day." A pause as he looked sternly around at his company, holding each member's gaze intently for a few seconds before moving on to the next. He continued, "I for one spent much of the day at the infirmary - you may inquire to the staff there for confirmation - after which I returned to my chamber to study the literature I brought with me." Silence fell upon Jimbob's mouth again as he finished speaking. He said just what was needed. No more, no less. Now he awaited the response of his companions, if they could be referred to as such after this grave event.
MaelstromIslander
Mael gazed at jimbob. "While I saw you at the infirmary for a long while, you did leave for a minute, mysteriously. Who knows what secrets lie under that hood..." Mael paused for a second. "While i am quite suspicious of Jimbob, that hideous green hat that man wears draws my attention. Something about that hat is suspicious..."

Fush
Hey hey, it's a bit hasty to rush into a vote like that. It doesn't concern me WHO you vote for but put a little thought into it first.
Jimbob
Jimbob spoke louder than usual, yet he kept calm and collected. "All I asked for was a report on each of your activities. Instead you go on to attack me? I am both insulted and intrigued."
Quisoves Potoo
Seeing as we only have one vote, I'm extending voting 48 hours. Please vote!
Jimbob
Given that only a few members have spoken, I'm going to have to cast my vote on one of them. Seeing as Fushi has already received a vote... Jimbob turned slowly to Seaborgium. "I concur with your vote. This woman's hasty accusation towards me alone has left me rather perturbed." (I vote Fushi too)
Fush
(coughfemalenowremeber?) I never directly accused you, Jimbob. I only said you weren't telling us something. You seem pretty eager to cast me in a bad light, which is only making you more suspicious. I'm voting Jimbob.
aidenpons
The person with the hideous green hat wandered into the room, immediately attracting the eye of Mael. He was quite concerned about the affair but did not yet know who to blame. His vote leant towards the one known as BionicleFan. His outburst at the beginning seemed quite absurd, but now silence... but there wasn't enough information to say anything really. Fushi, while acting somewhat suspicious, was at least saying something... [voting for BionicleFan]
Quisoves Potoo
The votes were cast, and the Duchess of Fushigsaurus received the majority. She desired a swift death, entreating Bionclo for the loan of his dagger. He obliged, plunging it into her heart. As she fell, a playing card flew to the floor. A Joker. Someone had just won a Guerra Segreta. Fushigisaur, Duelist, executed. Night Two begins.
MaelstromIslander
Mael stared at the bloody carcass of Fush, with a frightened look on his face. The body was taken out of the room as night fell upon them. Mael stared at the others, and suspicion of Jimbob was growing, but mael said nothing. He left the room, along with his bag, turning his head away from Jimbob. Mael sat on his bed. He sat there for hours, until he looked around the room. He got up and grabbed his bag, opened the wooden door, and walked through the corridors. The glimmering light of mael's candle awoke a once-asleep hideous green hatted man, who opened his door and followed male from behind. Mael twisted the doorknob of Seaborg's room door, and opened it. He walked into the room and shut the door, but the hideous green hatted man creaked it open. He watched mael's shadow open the bag and take out unidentified tools. Right when mael was about to use the tools on seaborgium, the green hatted man fainted. Mael heard the bump of the man's head, and he calmly looked around the corridor, and shut seaborgium's room door.
Fush
I'd like to provide a bit of friendly advice from beyond the grave to whoever is actually mafia: Murder Jimbob next Murdering anyone else gets rid of a valuable scapegoat on which to pin the blame. But you can't pin the blame on Jimbob anymore 'cause he's quite clearly innocent. (to a degree........ I mean he did cause MY death but it's all a part of the game.) Quisoves Potoo
A shadow, akin to that of some demonic wyrm, hung across the walls of the bedroom of the Baron del Isola della Tempesta. He knew it to originate from the stone rooster, clad in a jester’s cap, perched above his door, yet it unnerved him all the same. As he rummaged through his bag, filled with herbs, ointments, and (most importantly, at present) a stiletto, he heard footfalls in the hallway. Urgently, he located the blade, drew it, and waited beside his chamber door. His breathing quickened as the doorknob turned. The door opened, hiding him. Now he would strike. He prayed that no innocent would come to harm. He was prepared to pounce upon his fellow man and incapacitate him (the hilt of the stiletto would serve this purpose admirably.) He was not, however, expecting the diabolic sight that awaited him. Almost as suddenly as his leap began, it ceased. The masked horror betrayed a grunt of surprise, before grabbing the unfortunate Barron by the neck. As the life was choked out of him, the unfortunate doctor regretted that he would not be around to protect his fellows from the fiend within their midst. Still, his prayer, in a manner of speaking, had been answered. Death found him with an untroubled conscience. Maelstromislander, Doctor, killed by the Mafia. Day Two begins. Since I started doing some revising (I'll talk more when the round is over). As for that specific bit, I'm just trying to keep the game more boxed into its own world. What happened in another life happened in another life. You don't know anything about it in this life, and doing so is breaking the wall of reality, implying that you're some sort of deity. If you've picked up on someone's behaviour from previous rounds, good for you, but keep it to yourself, at least until the round is over. Also that quote is broken REALLY badly. We discussed this matter, though I don't recall us coming to any consensus on this matter. For my own part, I don't see why the flavoring should overwhelm the game. This isn't a roleplaying game, after all.EDIT: Also, it would have been nice if you'd notified us when you did this, seeing as I stated that normal RRU Mafia rules apply. Also, what's with #3? This isn't a roleplaying game, after all.EDIT: Also, it would have been nice if you'd notified us when you did this, seeing as I stated that normal RRU Mafia rules apply. Also, what's with #3? Well as the rule writer I've gone and made it official. If it isn't partially roleplay, then why bother having a narrator make a scene, and us introduce ourselves and act as the character we give ourselves (somewhat), hmm? In any case, players are usually down-talked for doing such a thing anyway. To be honest I wasn't reaching for a far out roleplay game when I created this topic anyway, but some carry it out a lot further than others. For any case, it is one of the good practices to do exclusively in this game. #3 is something I didn't think fully about before slapping it in there. It was kind of a back up for #2. I've removed it for now anyhow. The changes are suppose to be taking place after this round, which is why I was sneaking it in there as was going to mention things after the round ends before saying anything because there is a lot more than just those guidelines going on. If you want to discuss more wait until the end of the round (what's the live/death stats now?).
aidenpons
*looks at guidelines* *sighs* I mean, really? You need to actively tell people "don't tell your role and if they do, report it to the narrator?" *sigh of desperation* I understand that yes, that does need to be done, but you don't need to say it should be done... ... it's like saying to people "Be careful to breathe while typing your message, it improves your clarity of mind" and being 100% serious. I'm leaning towards a sort of anarchic approach: why bother with bureaucracy? To me, Mafia is a game where one person is trying to kill off everybody else and everybody's defending themselves by arguing... you don't need ridiculous quantities of rules, just common sense. And I know you said to me on Steam we've been doing the voting completely wrong (such as the game starts at day, not night)... so what? The point of this game isn't to win and have everything set out nicely so as to make it fairer and... can't really find the word for it, but anyway it's to have fun. Yes, fun is generally had by winning, but that's not the point: the point is on the stiletto that you don't need all of the rules and stuff! I'm not saying "stuff the roles," those add fun, but I am saying "stuff the bureaucracy." It's not needed and makes the whole thing droll in an attempt to set out the game clearer, but Mafia pivots on vague-ness and chaos. [/rant] I'm just... I don't know... [/FPQuote] EDIT: WHAT THE HECK EDITOR, AFTER MY [/@QUOTE] (without the @, dur) YOU DECIDED TO REMOVE ALL THE TEXT AFTER IT... WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU AND WHY CAN'T I USE THE ENTER KEY AT THIS POINT IN TIME [/rant] Take me off the auto-register list again: I don't know if the upcoming term and Mafia are going to be viable. Seaborgium
No round linking. Talking or suggesting thing from previous rounds while playing in a round is NOT PERMITTED I really don't think that this particular rule makes a lot of sense. It seems to me that either you're trying to prevent something which no one who understands the game would do (i.e. thinking that the roles and actions of a previous round apply to the current one), or trying to prevent people from getting distracted (which is not really something you can do by adding new rules). Or worst, you're trying to prevent something that no one can help but do. Either consciously or subconsciously, we will base the way that we perceive other players actions through the lenses of previous experience. Short of mindwipe or concussion, there is no way to stop this. It's the job of the players who act predictably to try to be less predictable, not the job the other players to turn a blind eye to (sometimes obvious) patterns of behavior. If hypothetical player "Scot Mchighlander" kills the same people every time he's mafia and then uses the same argument to try to divert the blame, I think it's entirely fair for other players to say "hey, this is what Scot did when he killed before. This is suspicious".
Fluffy Cupcake
I mean, really? You need to actively tell people "don't tell your role and if they do, report it to the narrator?" ~rant~ I can confirm it has happened with no reporting before. Once many many rounds ago. All in all these don't change much anything. The game will still be just as chaotic. Either consciously or subconsciously, we will base the way that we perceive other players actions through the lenses of previous experience. Short of mindwipe or concussion, there is no way to stop this. -more things- If you've picked up on someone's behaviour from previous rounds, good for you, but keep it to yourself, at least until the round is over. I guess I'm just trying to stop the blunt 4th wall breaks which is painful to read when semi-rp is going on. *intensely thinks about this harder* I may consider softening it.
