I set RRU to show me 10 posts a page and that my friend was posted 20 pages ago.

Why would people update a post when they can just make a new one.

So, Lair, you do realize that the mobile teleport wasn't actually supposed to drive around? I should hope you didn't get that impression.

Hey. I've studied those beta pictures. I know about this stuff. It's a building with no dependancies so you can teleport it anywhere.

guys, I'm leaning more and more towards theming this around beta elements of Lego Rock Raiders. Should I still keep it RRU-focused and mix original RR beta plans in with new elements, go to original RR with beta and new elements, or something different?

My issue:

If I make it original Raiders: the stuff's there, I can just edit things easy, there are ideas from all the books, etc. But it's the same old same old.

If i make it RRU, it's all sorts of new stuff! But I don't have many ideas, and I'd have to leech off of people who can model.

I've been leaning back to RRU raiders, but there's still the matter of models and such. I don't want to constantly bug people.

What's wrong with having beta content but mixing it with RRU stuff? If you planned it right, RtPU could have two level forks: one that follows mostly beta elements, and one that follows mostly RRU things.

Also I had no issue with mixing beta with RRU, it's just how to do it. But that's all later, code is important now.

Idea I want to run by you:

Mobile Power Station

Place this small building down next to a power path anywhere on the map, then build a mining laser next to it. If your main power plant is supplied with crystals, energy is radiated out to the Power Stations, allowing you to build defense towers anywhere.

Cons: This makes the Mobile laser Platform useless except when there is rugged ground.

2. Wait, that's a con? Pfff. Lrn2HeightMap if it matters. Second, it ain't useless. It'd be more costly and time consuming to use method one for defense. So the lazy would just use method 2 (the mobile laser platform).

ompingas lair is actualy giving modeling a try. At least I know how to move it around the field.

This will be a building but it will be classified as a monster and you need it to teleport in the mobile teleport.

Guys, I want to make seams harder than hard rock so that only one vehicle can drill them, but that ruins their purpose. What do?

Same thing the LRR devs did.

Only one can drill it fast. Everything else can drill it, but it's like the small digger drilling through hard rock.

Seams offer guaranteed rewards when drilled, but their visibility and ability to be drilled by anything makes the reward feel less satisfying. If it's visible right away and the only way to drill through was to make a certain vehicle, then that's something that players can look forward to when planning how they'll tackle the rest of the level. Plus, seams are harder than Hard Rock in one respect: it takes four pieces of dynamite to destroy a seam, but only one to destroy a hard wall. If you're disabling dynamite, then you can combine the reward of building the vehicle with unlocking more parts of the level. Really, if you want to prevent people from getting profit from seams, just make the vehicle bloody expensive so the seams act as a compensation factor.

That's pretty much what I thought. Also, you can only use dynamite once on a wall, so that makes seams only destroyable by vehicle.

A heavily armored vehicle with a laser cannon. Destroys things quickly. Cross Land

Large Transport Truck

Er... not a good idea if it can only have 9 cargo nulls.. Cross Land.

Granite Grinder (Prototype)

A sleeker version of the Granite Grinder, as seen in Prototype images. Has a 10x4 Silver cockpit with single/twin Rock Raider drill(s) on the front. Legs are unchanged. Cross Land. Jump?

Chrome Crusher (Prototype)

A prototype Chrome Crusher as seen in Concept Art. Similar to current crusher, but has two drills in front with a scanner and bucket in the back, and no laser. Cross Land.

Massive Excivating Vehicle

A smaller, recolored version of the Thunder Driller form Power Miners. It crushes rock like there's no tomorrow, and it's undamagable, but incredibly slow. Has a standard LRR chasis, but a Power miners drill on front with a huge engine behind it and an enclosed cabin. Cross land and whatever it feels like.

Unknown

Something to replace the Tunnel Transport?

Mobile HQ

This one's a long shot.

Don't have any ideas for replacements for small digger and truck. I want at least something with treds.

Anyways, these are vehicles I've come up with. I can't use them all though... what should I use from this?
