Xbox One Security Backdoor Exposed (And You Won't Believe How!)

Now, I've heard of some pretty bad things about the Xbox One, but this takes the cake. Apparently, a five-year-old was able to break into his father's Xbox Live account by filling the password section with spaces. Let me repeat that. This kid spammed the spacebar to play his dad's games. So, this kid discovered the trick, and got away with it until shortly after Christmas (no idea on why it took so long for the news to pick it up). His parents (finally) realized their son was pla

This Can't Be Happening...

So, while building a MOC this morning, several of my black V-sockets snapped in multiple ways. The plus-rod whole on the bottom snapped off from one, the socket part actually shattered off on another, and one of them just snapped in half, and I'm left like

Prime Time

I've always loved Metroid Prime. It's always been one of my favorite games. So you can imagine I was ECSTATIC when I found a copy of Metroid Prime TRILOGY for super cheap at Gamestop recently. ...Some context. There are 3 Prime games. Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Prime and Echoes are both Gamecube games, and play very similarly. But Corruption is on the Wii and has a unique control scheme. Metroid Prime Trilogy is, as you can guess, a collec

Fourth-ward March.

I totally didn't even plan that pun 4 years ago. So. 27/03/2014. Heh. Never really thought I'd make it this far without dying by train, being sent to a loony bin or wasting away on alcohol. And while those things have all been pretty close to happening, here I still am. The Austrexican Lives. The Pants Enforcers reigns supreme. 4 years ago, I found a little email in my old High School email account. Supposedly, I had seen RRU at some stage, and signed up for a newsletter...without

The Family Tree of Johnny Thunder

Not enough to warrant its own topic here, but still an interesting subject that I feel should be discussed. Especially in the most boring blog on Rock Raiders United. First off, let us start by acknowledging that, outside of heavily story-oriented themes such as BIONICLE, LEGO has a very loose grip of canon that frequently contradicts itself and encourages each person to come up with his or her own personal interpretation, sometimes called MOCanon. With a canon as unreliable as LEGO's, one

The entry that never made it

Very recently I found out about Drill Master's RRU music sign-up and I sent him a PM to join. ApparentlyI was too late and I didn't get in. Anyways, I just made a piece of music in the past half hour and the outcome is this: RRU Composition #01.m4a It was entirely made using no Pre-made sounds and thus is the first of my songs that I fully hand-played. At a few times the Violins start to fall out of sync but it doesn't matter. Enjoy my entry that never will make it. Oh, and Drill Master, if y

Why I freaking love the Mixels

You may have notice that lately I have become COMPLETELY OBSESSED with LEGO's new Mixels line. Here's why. 1. Cost These sets are VERY cheap. Most decent sets LEGO makes cost upwards of $60, and the cheaper ones are generally pretty boring. But these sets are only $5 each- and for the price, each one is a pretty decent model. I hear about the 'golden ration' a lot in the LEGO community, that when you divide the price by the part count of a set anything under $0.10 per piece is a good

Oh, spam messages...

Spam (sometimes known as junk) email, comments, tweets, posts, messages, phone calls, text messages, SMS messages, mail, they are a universal annoyance. From the janitor at your school to a high-seated official, everybody gets and hates spammy junk messages. Further more, with ever-increasing computer power and the rise of programming being taught practically every where you turn, more spam bots thus more spam messages will continue to be sent in all forms of media. Spam also comes in many varit

My computerfast begins

Right, first off 'ComputerFast' is NOT a word if you are wondering. Second I decided to not do this as a Profile Feed because it would be too long. And three... Urm.... I'll just explain... Starting tomorrow (Friday 14th March 2014) I will not be attending my computer. Lately I have been having troubles in school (not to do with bullying) and my only guess is because of how much time I spend on my computer. This 'Abandoning computer thing' will last until I give up, so if you are going to ask

Discovering a Relic

On a Saturday morning errand to Target, I found myself doing a strange activity: SINGING "Mama Papa Brickolini!" I am an extremely private and non-expressive individual, and such a display of singing is unheard of from me, even in the privacy of the vehicle. Soon after this bizarre performance, somewhat embarrassed, I began to question my own sanity. As I pulled into a parking lot, I noticed a seasonal kid's consignment sale at the adjacent commercial space. I am one of those ultra-frugal types

QW: Why Legend of Zelda is already one of my favourite games.

This is a entry in my "Quick-Write" series. Basically, just some minor thoughts quickly thrown into a blog entry as a kind of progress update on how I'm doing. Anyone familiar to Creative Theory on RRU or the Skype chats would know that Jamesster's been doing a lot of LoZ stuff recently. He found that brilliant essay, and recently he's been playing the first game for numerous reasons. As I'm sure anybody from RRU knows, once one popular member does something, it quickly becomes infec

Apparently I Need to Fire Myself

Ohboy. It's Spam Message of the Day time. I removed the link at the end, since I sure as hell don't trust it. MESSAGE TITLE: Why you should fire your boss Hey there, Ezekiel here again. I want to PROVE to you why my Forex 3-day webinar on 9th, 10th & 11th April 2014 is going to be life-changing. My goal? You quit your job, if you have one… and work for yourself. I don’t know why people even put up with having their future and their family’s future d

Lead Writer of Uncharted series fired by Naughty Dog

So, Amy Hennig, one of the more talented writers in the industry, has been "let go" and doesn't work at Naughty Dog anymore. According to her, she was "forced out" by Neal Druckmann, who was the lead writer for "The Last of Us" Which was my personal Game of the Year of 2013. Now, this is a mixed bag. On one hand, one of the best writers in the industry is out of a job, but on the OTHER HAND, if square sees potential in her, they could potentially hire her again, and set her to work on writi

How the SMLC is ACTUALLY constructed.

Hey all, I just finished my own recreation of the Small Mobile Laser Cutter and thought I would share my thoughts on it. First of all here it is: Front Back (EDIT: Just noticed I forgot the yellow "V" plate on the back of the laser. oops.) Both of the models posted on this forum (by PeabodySamn and Oboe Shoes) seemed to assume the teal on the back was a solid mass, but it's actually two seperate pieces that are not attached. So what's so ming blowing about thi

Can We Talk About How Terrible Java Is?

It's a useless pile of s***. The f****ing thing won't work correctly on my sister's machine, and barely runs correctly on mine. The main problem on my sister's machine is that it keeps deleting the core .exe files. Java.exe, javaw.exe and a few others are constantly deleted anytime you try to run a Java app after installation. Putting copies of these files in the folder doesn't help, since it deletes them too. Completely cleaning my computer of everything Java related; every folder, registr

Twitch Plays Pokemon (And All Hell Breaks Loose)

http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemon This is purgatory. The Catholics were right, plain and simple. It exists and the Internet is living in it. THE INFINITE MONKEY THEOREM GIVEN LIFE AND IT'S HORRIBLY GLORIOUS. This "Social experiment" involves some coding, an emulator, a Twitch livestream, and everyone's sanity as the Internet goes forth to complete Pokemon Red by inputting controls via chat. Sounds like a fun time, right? Well, it's not that simple. There's about a 20-second

Goat Simulator 2014

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=JN2QUhaKN2Q Thank me later. SERIOUSLY THOUGH! Game Jam has just finished up, right around the world. I'm pretty upset I didn't get to participate due to commitments this year, but thankfully the results of my local Game Jam, as well as many others are starting to show up, and it looks like this was a pretty good year for Indie Development. Life is an interesting beast.

"And remember, the universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke." ~ Orvus, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time Life is one of those insane things that happens. It's like, there for years, and then it's taken away. It's pretty crazy. And the older I get, the more I look on it and think about what life really, truly is. See, I think people have been asking the wrong questions for years. There's no one singular purpose to life, because every

An Incomplete Victory, Alcom Returns to College

On December 18th, I submitted a change of program application to RIT. The program I applied for was the Game Design and Development major at the RIT School of Interactive Games & Media (IGM). After several tense weeks and I finally got my response, and that response is... "maybe". The decision of whether or not I return to RIT depends on my performance in this Spring Semester at RIT. Around the time I submitted my application, I also signed up for a full semester of spring courses relev
